My son is almost 9 months and we did the standard vaxes through 4 months. I've been researching delaying and have an idea of what we're going to do, but we recently decided on going overseas in June and I'm wondering where to get accurate info about illnesses in Bali and if that could change our vax plan.

Thanks for that site -- it has a lot of info. I'm not sure what to do with the info, though. The vax info it has has shots before I would want my son to have them, just like here. I can see how many people are reported to have a disease, but I'm not sure how that compares to here, and again, if it means I need to do some vaxes early. :

Are you planning to go for a holiday or to live?

I delayed vaxes for my DD until she was 3 (now 6) while we lived in Singapore (low risk). We travelled throughout Asia with no problems - Nepal, Indonesia (including Bali), Malaysia, and Thailand. She did contract HiB influenza, but that was in a developed country (Singapore).

My biggest fear is diseases that can be spread via poor hygiene and nightsoil. You cannot avoid them when you are living in a population that has a large percentage of carriers.

So ... to make a long story short: Visiting and living in developing countries are two completely different scenarios. Hopefully that distinction will help you to make sense of your research. Good luck!

Thanks you so much for that info. We are visiting a friend for a month in the Ubud mountains. I found out that nothing is required, but, of course, a bunch of shots/boosters are recommended.

I recommend you type 'ThinkTwice Global Vaccine Institute' into the google search engine. You will find some good information about vaccinations including travel vaccines at this site.

Just remember that vaccines - far from boosting the immune system - actually undermine it, making the organism MORE SUSCEPTIBLE to infection. Vaccination may give you peace of mind (as in: 'living in blissful ignorance'), but this feeling of safety is actually a dangerous illusion.
