My 12 yr old son has several pimples on his nose....any ideas on what to use to clear them up? I was lucky as a kid and only got an occasional pimple so Im not sure of the best way to treat it

Toothpaste on the pimple overnight. Or you could crush an aspirin and make a little paste to apply to the pimple...not sure how long to leave that on though.

Honey. Put a dab on it and put a bandaid over it.

Try baking soda instead of toothpaste - the detergents in toothpaste may irritate or sting the pimple. Icing the pimple will reduce the redness and swelling and using a baking soda paste of baking soda and water will dry out the zit.

Another remedy - you can also make a zit-zapper - combine apple cider vinegar with tea tree oil and apply on the zit. It will be really reduced if not gone the next day. Keep applying until it's gone.

Straight up tea tree oil works really well. Just a little dab on the zit.

African black soap has been my biggest success, and my daughter uses it on her period now for the same reason. It is magic on zits! I've done the honey thing, the aspirin thing (not the toothpaste thing though), the bs thing. The best defense line I've had is the black soap, and actually FEEL it working and love my skin.

I like the dab of tea tree oil, myself. That's what I use on mine. Burt's Bees also makes this zit remedy that works really well, I have no idea what's in it, but it works! It's in a little roll-on tube and is clear.

I used to use tea tree oil and rosemary oil and other eos. They always helped but never made a big difference. Right now I dissolve aspirin in withchazel, mix it with honey, put it on and leave it. (If skin is acne-prone you can also put it on clear skin preventatively.) I would recommend dissolving an uncoated aspirin (or generic) in witchazel (you can use water just as well but witchazel gives even more anti-inflammatory properties to the mix) dabbing it on as a paste, and leaving it on until it starts to dry, then just rinsing it off. If you add a bit of honey it'll stick even better and you'll get the anti-microbial and moisturizing effects of honey as well.

I wish I'd known about these possibilities when I started with skin problems, could have saved a lot of trouble!

We use Milk of Magnesia. Spread it on the area before bed and it will dry and flake off during the night. The magnesium is really good for the skin and will dry up the oils. I've used it as a teen and now have used it with two teens here. I haven't tried the TT oil, but I've never found anything which worked better.
