Weekly Thread Nov 12 - 19

Thread Starter
I thought I would start a new thread for the upcoming week. How is everyone feeling?? I'm just going with the flow these days. The nausea has gotten a lot more manageable and the fatigue is lessening. I can actually do things now! This Thursday will be my second MW appointment and we're gonna try to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. I'll be 11 weeks 3 days. I hope that is not too early. I know I'll be scared if we don't hear it but I can't bear to wait another month.

So how is your pregnancy going?

Jilian I hope to be in your shoes soon. I'll be 9w3d as of Monday, and my morning sickness has gotten worse this past week or so. I've been throwing up daily which is something I never did with my son- I only threw up maybe once with him. It was also nearly gone by now with him, too. I am ready to feel better, definately! I worry a lot about the effect that poor nutrition is having on a body that's stretched thin between being pregnant and nursing a toddler. I have no appetite and have to force myself to eat.
shell i am not nursing but often worry about poor nutrition because i barely eat anything. i think my diet is primarily juice with a few crackers, and not enough of either of those either..

but the bambino will just take what it needs, and you (and i) will be left to make up the difference, so i am told not to worry.

my doc tried to assuage my worries in this regard by telling me about women in concentration camps who had fairly healthy babies under the (obviously) worst conditions. the women suffered though, losing teeth and bone density etc.. i don't know about the analogy but i don't think i am at the teeth losing stage yet..

I'm here. Still feeling sick. Exhausted. Counting the days until Dec 1st (12 weeks). BUT, I'm also really excited about this whole thing. Told the parents and siblings. Everyone is shocked, but happy for us. Calling the midwives on Monday to set up my first appointment. Hoping to get an appt and to be able to hear the heartbeat a day or two before Thanksgiving. We'll see. I'm feeling really comfortable with the midwife I met last Wednesday and am excited to have a care provider picked out. Also, I'm not sure how much longer the rubber band trick is going to work on my jeans. I'm washing up some maternity jeans and I may be in those full time soon. My third pg is already a lot different than my first pg in that dept.

Jilian, my fingers are crossed for you!

My first appt is this Thur. I'll be 11w5d. I learned of my m/c at my 12wk appt with my last pregnancy, so I'm v. anxious to pass this milestone. I'm seeing a homebirth midwife, but I've scheduled this appt with an ob, so if we can't hear the heartbeat, I have the option of an immediate u/s. The waiting is making me crazy.

On a brighter note, I spent the day with my little sister. She's 17wks with her first. She's a picture of first-time-mom-bliss; it was a fun day! It seems we're both a little disappointed that I look more pregnant than she does

ooo... I dont know whats going on over here but I'll be hitting 12 weeks on wed and I'm not only feeling sicker but acctually getting sicker more often:Puke ... not fun!

THE good side of things is that I think DP and I have resolved to work things out!!!! I think we are communicating a bit better and were really able to narrow down the main problems and figure out the solutions, so fingers crossed there for more good vibe and jolly kisses and what not lol!!!

Thats all thats going on so far!!!! I'm sooo excited for all you mommas getting so close to heartbeat time and I must say I'm a touch dissappointed because although I should be able to hear it this week my appointment isn't untill Nov28th!!!! IT FEELS LIKE FOREVER AWAY!!!! lol

I'm just hitting 8 wks this week and I can't wait for my 12 week appt in mid December. I just want to hear that heartbeat! My nausea is getting worse which makes the days a little harder but at the same time I'm relieved lol. Hopefully it doesn't get worse than this but you never know. My sis in law and a family friend are both around 16-18 wks and feeling movement! I think that is one of the most exciting stages. You feel good, you can feel the baby but you're not super uncomfortable. The honeymoon stage lol!
I'm 8 wks 2 days (dating now by the ultrasound which pushed our EDD out a few days) and I'm feeling better than I was, though still being hit suddenly by nausea that comes and goes a couple of times per day. I think my worst week was week 6, but that's also when I think I was fighting off a cold, so maybe that made it worse? I'm most likely to feel nauseated when I'm hungry or tired.

Even though we heard that heartbeat on Nov. 2nd (u/s), I keep getting nervous when I'm feeling better. Luckily, my bbs are still tender and I'm ready for bed by 7:30 pm! That's reassuring.

I wish I could hear the heartbeat again before we go to Oregon for all of December to visit my family. I'm wondering if I could go to a Planned Parenthood or somewhere (in Oregon) to just have someone take a listen around 12 weeks. (I'll be 10 wks 4 days my last midwife appt before the trip, and not back until I'm 15 weeks!)

I've taken out some maternity pants, but they are ridiculously big. I'm not actually too BIG for my regular clothes, I just can't bear the pressure on my tummy! I was probably 10 pounds heavier before I got pg with DS, plus I didn't start wearing maternity until I was 6 months along, so I don't have much that is in-between sizes, except my usual (loose-fitting) summer clothes.

I just ordered 2 pairs of (OMG-expensive! Waah!) maternity tights from Round Belly Clothing. I'm hoping I can then wear dresses most of the time without being too cold or having my waist pinched by my normal tights. I've got one pair of long-underwear pants that I can wear under dresses right now--not pretty, but okay for being at home.

Oh, I love that my gripes are all so small and petty right now.

Jilian, good luck at your appointment! I will 11wk 5 days when we go for my second MW appt. We heard the hb that early with I was pregnant with DD!

Shell_Ell, I am with you! MS has gotten a little worse and is mainly at night now...and I am not even interested in eating the dinner I prepare!

goodwin, hope you feel better!

momtokay I hope you are able to a get a appt soon!

mamallama, Good Luck at your appt! How nice that you and your little sister are pregnant together! You know, almost everytime one my sister's is pregnant another sister becomes pregnant too (with the exception of the one time)!

WhiteWax Hope you feel better

Mamato2, I hope you feel better! Don't worry before you know we will all be at the honeymoon stage!!!

willoLevin I hope you are able to hear the hb before your trip!

I have been wearing yoga pants. I can still fit into my jeans but my pouch is hanging out a little and is visble through my shirts now! And I am exhausted by the time DH comes home from work, and I am ready for bed by 8 (sometimes earlier!). Oh the early days of pregnancy! I also bought what is similar to a bella band (from the woman you mentioned Jilian on the thread over on the I'm Pregnant Board, thanks!). I can't wait to get them!!
goodwin, as far as nutrition goes, it's actually not the baby that I'm worried about, it's me! I know that the baby is getting what it needs from me, but between the baby and the breastmilk taking everything out of me, I just wonder what it's going to do to my body in the end when I'm not getting much of anything. So what you are talking about is my exact worry... my body gives and gives and doesn't keep anything for itself!

Hi everyone. I have my first prenatal appt. with a midwife at the birth center on Wednesday. I am really looking forward to it, although I am afraid that it will be a bit too early to hear a heartbeat (I'll be 10w5d--anyone hear one that early?). We saw the heart beating in an u/s at 7w3d, but I'd like the reassurance. I am eager to have my iron checked, since I wonder if anemia might be contributing to my extreme fatigue and lightheadedness. I feel so pale and listless all the time. I am still feeling nauseated throughout the day, especially in the evenings but only gag/vomit if I brush my teeth too vigorously. I really hope this queasiness lightens up in time for Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday. Food remains a necessary evil right now, which is terrible since I usually LOVE to eat.

I also think I have a yeast infection. ICK. The home remedies don't work very well for me, so I am going to call today to see what's safe and recommended. If any of you have had success with something besides the Monistat bomb, I am game to try.

I am starting to feel more connected to this pregnancy. After an early loss last time, it's been hard to feel confident. But more and more, I am overwhelmed with excitement at what's to come!

Here I am...10w3d...desperately counting down to the week 12 turn-around.

I have this overwhelming feeling that if I can just make it to my second trimester then everything will be fine.

Starting last week, my nausea pretty much went away, but I'm still dealing with the sore boobs and constant fatigue. I sleep about 12 hours a day, at least.

I've been getting a lot more done this past week, but I'm afraid that I may have overdone it because I started spotting last night...just lightly and intermittently, but spotting nonetheless...

So, I'm hoping everything is fine, spending the day in bed.

Oh me too irises! We actually do two weekends of Thanksgiving, one with my folks this coming weekend and one with my husband's family on the actual day. So I have about 125 hours and 10 minutes to start feeling better and be ready to EAT on Saturday (not that I'm counting or anything). My m/w appointment is next week which feels good, it felt so far away when I made it and I'm glad to have it coming closer. It will be good to hear (I hope) the hearbeat, etc.

I'm dreading this week a bit... my husband has a really busy week this week which means there will be multiple nights when he doesn't get home before my daughter goes to bed and potentially not until after I go to bed which always stinks. And, it is supposed to be miserable and rainy here all week which is always daunting with a toddler. I'm currrently trying to amass a list of all the things we can do. I find it is tricky though becasue she still does two naps and so much of the stuff for kids her age (storytimes, music hours, etc) happens around 10 in the morning when she is napping. Oh well, none of these things are really that bad and we have the holiday with my family to look forward to at the end of the week.

Today starts week 11 for me, and dare I say it, as of yesterday, I have definetly felt better. Still a little gaggy in the mornings, but I do notice more energy and headaches have subsided. I really hope I'm on the upward swing here. Life with a toddler and being pregnant is sure hard at times.

Pretty much the only thing I feel like eating is fruits and potatoes. Baked potatoes are pretty much the only thing that tastes good.

Hope the rest of you feel better soon. And Jillian - hope you get to hear the little one's heartbeat, it IS such a reassuring good feeling.

Indeed! This will be our third year hosting Thanksgiving. I'm expecting a smaller crowd than in years past, but I'll still be cooking for more than 10 people. Some are from out of town and the rest are bachelors who don't cook, so having folks bring food isn't an option. I really don't know how I'm going to cope with the cooking odors (not to mention the magnitude of work!!) all day long. I keep telling myself there's still time to start feeling better!!

I have that same feeling. Every once in a while I feel terrified that something will go wrong, so I run to the bathroom to check to see if I'm spotting. I don't think it helps that my breasts are not as tender as they were earlier. At least I'm still sleepy, hungry, and need to go to the bathroom all the time!

DH is excited that he is now sleeping through my nighttime bathroom trips! Apparently this was a major accomplishment for him.

My first appointment is next Tuesday, and we can't wait! It's about halfway to my in-laws home, so we will just continue on after the appt. for Thanksgiving and take a few extra days off.

For those wondering about the heartbeats, I heard my older two's heartbeats around 10 weeks. My dd was barely 10 wks and it took a bit of time but the doctor found it. My ds was around 11 wks and we heard it. So its totally possible.
I heard the heartbeat of this little one at about 10.5 weeks. I'm about 11.5 now. Have hope, as long as they're cooperative, you'll hear them.
I have my first mw appointment on Wednesday. I can't wait. I am guessing I am in my 11th week, so we should be able to hear the heartbeat. Also, we should be able to find out really how far along I am. Right now, we are guessing my due date is June 1. It could be sooner, it could be later. I am getting pretty anxious. This is my second, and I am not as naive this time around as I was with my DD. It seems like I have been worrying a little more this time around.

I don't know if you've tried this home remedy, but, have you applied yogurt topically to the, er... area?

This worked for me once, but I did it very early. I think most home remedies work best when you catch the problem early...

I also drink 100% pure cranberry juice (can't have sugar added), sometimes cut with a little water or seltzer, to prevent urinary tract infections during pg. Those are so awful and uncomfortable, but SO EASY to avoid with a little prevention, yet many women don't know how well a simple glass of juice works!

I learned this in college: I can't be sexually active, drink coffee, and have sugar in my diet unless I drink 8 oz of pure cranberry juice each day. (Yeah, I could've dropped the coffee and sugar, but, come on! It was college! )
