I need husband success stories - Page 2

Wow, Thank you all for the great resources and your experiences! I can't wait to dive into all this information. I have however run into a bit of a dilema now.
Since DH basically said not a chance with homebirth last week I decided to just go check out the birth center. It's really pretty, has a jacuzzi tub which is nice, and would let me do anything I wanted. I know at least at this point DH would feel safer there, and I might a tad too, only because we would be closer to a hospital if something happned. I thought it was interesting too to hear that the CNM's (CNM's cannot deliver at home in Utah) can give morphene (Sp?) and other pain relieving or labor slowing drugs there at the birth center. I'm not looking for pain relief, I guess they'll just slow down prodromal labors so mom can rest sometimes.
So anyway, I could probably comprimise with the birth center, but then there are the issues of driving up there (20-30 min) in labor, and then having to pack up and leave a few hours after the birth. It's funny, the hardest thing is imagining packing up the baby and then unpacking him/her when we get home, it just seems like such an interuption.
So basically, I don't know whether to try to convince him again, or just comprimise with the birth center. Anyone done both and have a preference? Do I owe it to him (please don't take that wrong, I just want us both to have a good experience) to go inbetween hospital and homebirth, and not just jump to home?

The best advice i can give is to encourage you to keep talking about it with dh, and do what feels right/best for your situation! Every family is different, I, myself, wanted desparately to stay home to birth, since I had 5 previous births in various hospitals (with mw's, as well)
All I can tell you is my homebirth was the best, by far! NO interuptions, very dimmed lights, candles burning, no one checking my cervix (I had requested one vag exam, when my mw arrived, although she tried to talk me out of it!LOL)
Just being able to snuggle up with Baby, in my own bed, with no nurses taking him for "observation" or pokes or cuts, was worth it! We never even got the carseat out of storage til he was 2 weeks old! No bags to pack, no smelly germy hospital/birthing center, Oops! I was trying to stay objective! LOL!
Just keep the lines of communication open, keep reading, and decide later

Another good read, is the Father section of Lyn Greismer's book, "Unassisted Homebirth" was very helpful to my dh, as it had several examples of fathers who were totally against homebirth (with or w/out assistance) but were softened to the idea, and had great experiences!
Many Blessings, hth, G
