talk to me about it....

It looks like fun and kids on planes always seem to have them. I have a theory there is a secret Aquadoodle/Magnadoodle store in every airport and I just haven't found it yet

Ds has an Aquadoodle. It has a little pen you fill with water and that's how you write on the board. Once the board dries, all the "artwork" is erased. It is good for car trips but things like coloring and drawing have never kept my ds occupied for a decent amount of time. He's better off with some type of car, truck, or train.

We have the big mat one and it's great. (Not the one that makes sounds, that would drive me batty.) It hasn't torn yet, which is amazing because my girls can be rough. One time someone spilled OJ on it and I just hosed it off; it took about six hours to dry but now is fine.

The little markers are cheapie and the tips get bitten off. I'd suggest a bowl of water and a chunky paintbrush, or the stamps with the pad. You can use any foam sponge and cut into shapes.

Dd (4 yo) saw the large mat and decided she had to have it. She did extra things around the house (dusting, vacuuming, making the bed, helping put away dishes) to earn money to buy one. She VERY quickly became bored with it... actually spent more time EARNING the money to buy it than she did playing with it. I think it's kind of a boring toy for the pre-school age unless you have some of the fun accessories like sponges, etc.

We have a mat too and it gets quite a lot of use. DD is only 2 though and veryinto big scribbling. It's pretty mess free if you use the pens but It takes longer than I expected to dry, it spends a lot of time hung over the back of our dinning chairs It's nice to take to other peoples houses though since it keep DD occupied and rolls up small and we sit her on it with her snacks.

We have the travel size mat. Ds played with it a couple of time but is mostly bored with it. I don't even know where it is at this point.

We have the large mat, the "markers" are long gone, but the kids have more fun with wet fingers/paint brushes ect than the markers anyway.

It goes through stages, it's their most fun toy for a bit, then gets forgotten for a while, then fun again.

We got it last Christmas from Costco. It hasn't been the best toy ever but it was worth the purchase.

We have 1. My kids(4, 5 & 8) like it. It doesn't get daily use by any means. The playschool has one and the kids there like it, it is brought out at the beginning of school.

What I don't like is that the pens don't hold enough water though, my kids are always trying to turn it into an ocean and need alot of refils.lol

We do have the stamps(the shapes) though they're pretty boring for my kids. My 1 dd has the aquadoodle bear.

I bought my nephew the travel one as they do go on long plane rides and he hates the car so I thought it might help him during the long car rides.

My son really loves his auqadoodle. W ehave the Xlarge one for the floor.
It has stamps for it as well. If your kids like coloring/drawing it keeps them busy for awhile! I would not waste your money on the talking abnd thomas ones though. I have heard bad stuff about the Thomas and the new talking one has just gone too far in my opinion!

i think it looks great. NO MESS!! i would get a plain one without a particular theme in case your kid outgrows the character.

DS (5) loves his!
i liked it at first until i had to go fill the pen every 3 minutes or she sucks on the end of it. Now she can unscrew it so she pours the water out than asks for more. The little darling

i liked it when dd was 2, but she's over it now at 3. we got good use out of it. we did better with the smaller ones (character based) for restaurants etc.

Oakberry, your son sounds so much like mine it's eerie! His Christmas toys consist of a Train Table, Remote Control Car, Thomas Trains, Cars (Mater, McQueen, Sally) and some type of road racer. He probably won't touch the other stuff we got him

DH always stops me from *experiementing* too much as we know where DS's real passion lies.

It gets no love at our house with a 4 and a 1 year old. We have had it about a year and I think ds has taken it out 3 or 4 times.

My kids, 2.5 and 4.5, use theirs almost every day. We love it!

We have a travel one and both of my kids (ages 5 years and 21 months) love it. They use it so frequently that Santa is bringing a large mat Aquadoodle with all the stamp accessories. A couple of their friends have Aquadoodles and they especially love the Thomas one because it has a roller stamp that makes train tracks and a train that follows the track! How cool to make your own railroad?! I love that too! LOL

My mom got one for my 1 year old to play with at her house and the older two (4) love it too. It's on our Christmas list!!
