When is flu shot season over?

Today one of my new co-workers asked me casually if I had received my flu vax yet. I said nope. Next thing I know she comes back ready to give me a shot. : I mean, how weird to just assume that I would want one (maybe she thought she was doing me a favor by giving me a freebie?) I don't even know why'd we'd have them in the office anyway, I work in dermatology for crying out loud.

Anyway, I declined as nicely as possible. I really didn't want my non vaxing to become an issue at work. So I hope they're not too wierded out about my refusing it.

Not soon enough apparently.

From the CDC:

October or November is the best time to get vaccinated, but getting vaccinated in December or even later can still be beneficial since most influenza activity occurs in January or later in most years. Though it varies, flu season can last as late as May.

My peds office is pushing vax by second week in Dec. They say it is pointless to get it after that. However, given the flu vax surplus, I'm sure they'll hype it all winter.

Again, I really want to know why she even had the vax at her disposal (can you tell that this is bugging me). Maybe one of our pharma reps gave the office some for free? Those people are always hanging around trying to kiss our butts.
