Ingrid is here- 6 weeks early! -- with update post #45

My water broke at around midnight Sat night/Sun morning. I was hysterically upset-- and only 34 weeks, so I had to head to the hospital (we were planning a homebirth).

I don't have time to write up her birth story right now... but I had a pretty easy labor (dilated pretty speedily) and Ingrid was born Sunday morning at 11:30 AM. She is so beautiful and I'm deliriously in love. I'm torn between feeling grateful that she is here and okay, and being devastated that we can't bring her home yet (and we have been discharged). She is in the NICU, and is doing well, but we aren't sure yet when we can bring her home. One thing in her favor-- she was 5 lbs 14 oz and has no breathing problems whatsoever. She is mostly still there for observation, and at the moment her main issues are some jaundice and she sometimes gets too tired out to eat well. Fortunately, my milk is coming in, so she should be done with formula.

Anyhow -- more soon.. I hope you are all doing really well...

If you need some support, please come check out the preemie/NICU forum here! It is such a great resource! Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. 5 pounds 14 ounces is a great weight! She's more than my 36 weeker was and the same as I was full term!
