Okay - I thought there were like 9. Somebody please educate me on Dragonlance - pretty please.: Dh has read some, but it's been quite a while. I heard about the movie - here - and we decided to read the book(s) together (geeks in love - ain't it cool! ) that the movie was based on. We bought Dragons of Autumn Twilight: Dragonlance Chronicles Volume 1, and Dragons of Winter Night: Dragonlance Chronicles Volume 2. Did we get the wrong book(s)?

No, the first ones anyone should read are:
The Chronicles:
Dragons of Autumn Twilight
Dragons of Winter Night
Dragons of Spring Dawning

From there, go on to:
The Legends:
Time of the Twins
War of the Twins
Test of the Twins

After that... this list might help.

Cool. Thank you! Do you know which one(s) the movie is based on, or is it based on any one in particular?

That's the best one to start with, and the one - I'm guessing - that 99% of the DL geeks here started with. Welcome to the club. When you feel really geeky, you can go to Dragonlance Nexus and follow the weather on Ansalon and the stations of the three moons. I'm such a DL geek, and yet somehow still managed to win the affections of my DW.

Don't forget Summer Flame, & then Soul Forge & Brothers in Arms... by all means, skip the Jean Rabe ones. Please.

I don't bother with most of it. Silliness.

The Meetings Sextet is good, as are the six Preludes, (Kendermore is particularly hilarious ... gotta love Tas and the kenders), and the new "Lost Chronicles" - starting with Dragons of Dwarven Depths (which tell the stories between the "Chronicles") are quite good too.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the new stuff. (I'm just a Weis/Hickman purist, even if you can hear the dice rattling in the early volumes. Don't let it put you off, CM, Legends is SO worth it.)

It's Weis and Hickman who are writing the "Lost Chronicles" for what it's worth.

I'll let you know what I think when I'm done. I'm anxious about reading it. I didn't get to start last night. Dh is out of town, and it was a little crazy! Hopefully, tonight will be calmer.
