I basically gave him a piece of my mind (in a very non-snarky way) and let him know that so far, I have not encountered a parent who 'likes' the current discipline system...he has assured me that in the schools opinion, my ds is MUCH better this year than he was last year (ds had hitting probs last year, thank the Lord we have curbed that!!) and I said, then why does he have so many points, what about the 75=expulsion?? He assured me that my ds will not be expelled for talking too much, or failure to follow a reasonable request.(I did ask him if perhaps ds did not see the request as reasonable
)..or any of that other benign garbage that my ds has been 'in trouble' for. He also told me that he does NOT expect a small child to sit still and not talk for hours on end, even in ISS...I told him I still feel that ISS/Saturday School is not appropriate for young children...and he said I am sure that the parents and admin staff can come up with something everyone agrees with...and I can live with that. (where is the 'stalemate' smilie???)Since the school is willing to explore other options, and ds is not in danger of being expelled (or even suspended out of school) I am willing to help them reevaluate and revamp the system...
Also, principal told me about a thing the school started approx 2 months ago called S-dollars that they give out for positive behavior, staying on task, being quiet when your asked to be quiet, helping others, as well as homework completion, etc...so at least they have SOMETHING POSITIVE going on....
