child care yet?

My wonderful nurse-practitioner ped has scared the crap out of me about taking Erin to childcare at the Y while I work out, church, etc over the winter cause of RSV. I take her shopping & everywhere else & I know if I had to have her in child care because of work or whatever I'd just do it. But since all of these things are optional, I don't know what to do.

Any suggestions?

I personally am terrified of daycar. Could you possibly find someone like an older lady/grandmother type that would babysit if you needed? Just a thought. My nephew has been in daycare since 10 weeks old and has been hospitalized with RSV twice and is ALWAYS sick and I mean ALWAYS!

Yeah my Y membership is on hold till I feel comfortable taking her to the Y nursery...which may be never! I miss working out tho...I'll be checking back to see other mom's solutions too!

I wouldn't risk it either, unfortunately. My oldest DD was in daycare a few hours a week last winter while I was taking a class and she was sick all. winter. long. and she was over 6 months old when she started. Even my ped today kind of shuddered when we were discussing the germs that go around daycare. He did say that RSV and rotavirus fill hospitals all winter.

What about some workout DVD's to do at home? She might even enjoy watching you. I would keep her with you in church, and be very, very, very careful because that's a place that people go even if they're sick. OF course keep your own health and nutrition up so you're passing that good stuff on through the BM, have you read the sodium ascorbate threads on the vax board? and be a handwashing freak!

I do workout dvd's as I really don't trust those types of drop off places until the child is much older.
there are some dvd's that are specially for mama's/babies to do together.
