Yesterday one of our local ele. schools here was locked down for awhile because a guy escaped out of his handcuffs. From the local jail that happens to be around 800-1000ft apart. 
It is just so scary that things are like this any more. And the school shootings and everything going on 
: I worry every day about dd. It wasnt her school but still....

This happens on a weekly basis them walking the inmates that are to appear in court back and forth on foot between the jail and courthouse. They are around 100-200ft apart.
(The 2 schools mentioned are in the same building.)
