Postpartum pain question

(pardon if this sounds weird/strained - copied/pasted from another forum where I first asked the question...)

I had my daughter on Wednesday morning (birth story will follow eventually). No meds, but a very intense and painful labor - and a very short pushing stage with some tearing along the scar from my son's tear. We came home from the hospital that evening. My bleeding has been pretty minimal, at least in part (I believe) to the nettle leaf I mixed into my RRL tea throughout the pregnancy.

My question, though, is related to pain now. I'm having after pains, but I can identify those. I'm having some other pain that feels almost like air stuck around my ribs and neck - like the pain I was warned would come a day or so after my gallbladder removal 1.5 years ago. I'm fine when I'm sitting or laying down, but standing is extremely uncomfortable.

Is this normal or something I should mention to my doctor? I don't remember it from my son's birth. I'm currently taking 600 mg ibuprofen as needed (they said every 4 hours - it has been more like twice a day). It helps take the edge off the pain, but it's not overly helpful.

I had this ribcage pain too - about 5-6 days afterbirth, and again the next night, then not againt until 7 weeks later. My OBGYN, GP and chiropractor could not really do anything for me except my G suggested Maalox - which led to constipation.

The only thing that helped me in the moment when I was having these painful bouts was to burp. It wasn't instant relief, but a couple minutes after a couple good burps and I'd feel better.

Thanks - I've noticed that burping helps some, too. Unfortunately, it seems I can only *really* burp while I'm huge and pregnant... but I got a few out last night and could stand up straight again.

I tried gas-x and that didn't really do much either...

Pepermint tea is supposed to help with gas. Maybe try that?
