40 wks, 2 days and sicker than a dog

hi ladies,

i haven't posted much on this DDC, but here i am at 40 wks, 2 days with a really nasty cold and could use some help (or at least positive, heathly vibes). does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to get myself well ASAP? i admit that i'm not excited about the idea of laboring and birthing feeling as crappy as i currently do. :

Rest, relax
Personally I don't think your body will go into labor with you feeling so crappy. Of course it could happen but I doubt it.
I had a really bad cold right around my due date with my last son, he waited for me to get better

Also, as disgusting as it may sound (and it actually might put you into labor too) eating as much raw garlic as you can stomach is really good for getting rid of colds. No matter what a big garlic fan you are, eating an entire head of raw garlic just is not fun. But I swear to you that it works ... 100%.

the only thing about eating a lot of garlic though is that it thins the blood, and this close to her due date, she might not want to thin the blood.

I say rest as much as you can, and hopefully the baby will wait till you feel more human. I do believe that is the first tiem I've ever told anyone I hope they go overdue.

sleep sleep sleep! if you can! I was feeling that way the beginning of this week - but sweated it out in my sleep thankfully - still have some sinus congestion left. a humidifier seems to help too w/ the dry cool air on my throat...I've been trying to take a nap when ds does if possible too.

I just got over a HORRIBLE 2 week cold myself and my due date is tomorrow. I admit that I took some tylenol for the throat pain and upped my Vitamin C, zinc, and rest. I found that for the ear congestion and itching that putting 2 small drops of slightly heated olive oil helped immensely and for the throat and chest congestion I drank chamomille tea with honey and took hot baths, hope that helps.
