She's here!!! Our sweet DD, Simi, was born at 1:32 a.m. Nov. 16. (12 + days early) She was a healthy 7 pounds 3 oz at birth, and 18.5 inches long. I'm in love!
I had seen my midwife just the day before and complained that I had ZERO signs that labor would be coming soon. Then, the next afternoon at 1:30 my water broke. (Wouldn't you know this was the same day that started with our car dying, leaving us wiith only public transit? Fortunately they were able to do a rush job and we got it back in the evening. But I digress.) Around 5:30 I started feeling very light contractions, but nothing difficult and with no regular pattern. By 9:00 they were feeling a bit more intense so we asked our doula to come over. By midnight they had picked up in both frequency and intensity. I was hesitant to go to the hospital just yet b/c I was afraid I would cave in and ask for pain management if I had to labor for many more hours. Then I decided it would be worse to wait b/c I was already dreading the short car ride over so we went. I was admitted to the hospital at 12:30 am and was told that I was fully dilated, which was good b/c I had actually started pushing a bit in the admittance office. An hour later, I was holding our beautiful little girl in my arms. Pure Heaven!
We are doing well, but I'd be lying if I said it's an easy adjustment. Yesterday was our first day home and it was HARD! Still, I'm thrilled that she's here, and so happy that I got to have the labor and delivery I had hoped for.
I hope everyone is well. I haven't been able to read much on here, but maybe I'll catch up some day!
