Probably stupid soap question...

Are soap bases sold by weight or by volume? Meaning, will a two pound block of soap base give me four-4oz bars of soap?

I hope this isn't stupid, i'm just concerned that i'm going to order supplies and then only have two bars of soap. LOL So, how many bars does a 2 lb brick usually yield?

Weight.

Two pounds should give you 8 4 oz bars.
