It is possible for your water to break and for you still to carry the pregnancy for quite a bit longer. Check the preemie/NICU forum. I know of at least one mom who had a break at 20 weeks or so and carried to about 34. I know that one of the mamas has a link to a website with great advice about PPROM (preterm premature rupture of membranes). I think there are some techniques, such as amnio infusion that they can do, bedrest of course, antibiotics to try to keep infection at bay. I think it will be tough for her, she needs to carry for a minimum of 10-11 weeks just to hit viability.
But I wish her luck and many thoughts for her difficult situation.
