Bio-Identical Hormones

Suzanne Somers has been promoting bio-identical hormones (Doctor prescribed hormones from soy and yams) in her latest books and I am curious about them. I have had severe hormonal imbalances for years and have tried so many modalities for relief. What do you guys think about these?

Isn't prometrium one? I know that it's an infertility treatment, but it's also sometimes prescribed for postpartum depression...

Dr. John Lee writes good books about this. I like What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Perimenopause. He says most women need to bring up their levels of progesterone rather than estrogen (depending on symptoms, of course). I am highly sensitive to the phytohormones in soy, and when I used to eat a lot, I had severe PMS, mood swings, cramps, endometriosis, etc. I used a topical progesterone cream prescribed by my doctor at the time, but it didn't do a thing because I think the soy was aggravating my estrogen levels. In the last two months I've started using it again to see if it can lengthen my menstrual cycle (you can buy it from a health food store), and it seems to have done that by a couple of days so far.
