Homebirth, Retained Placenta, Hospital

Hi everyone,

My little guy was born Nov. 12th, at 41 weeks and 3 days.

After many days of "false labor" I was induced with 1/3 of the dose of Prostaglandin Gel. We had him 11 hours later in a water birth here at home.

After the birth, the cord broke from the placenta. When there was no way to manually fetch the placenta (worse pain than the actual birth) and I had lost too much blood I was given an I.V. and transported to the hospital via an ambulance.

This was one traumatic experience, but the baby is fine and I'm doing much better.

Sounds like that wasn't much fun!

My placenta stayed in there for 3 hrs! But it wasn't anything to worry about--I just wasn't interested in pushing anymore! hahah Tired uterus I guess! hahaa

Hope all is better for you now!

I hope that you feel, despite the transfer for blood, that the birth was beautiful and empowering. Hugs.
