I have thought for about 3 months that the effexor I was taking was what was messing with my supply. I finally convinced my doctor to switch me to another medication and I have been getting engorged and waking up with rock hard painful breasts. Even during the day, I've had more milk than I know what to do with.
My doctors all looked at me like I had two heads when I said that I thought it was the effexor. But when I think back, I doubled my dose after DD was born because I had a horrible case of baby blues. My milk almost completely dried up within 24 hours. So I dropped the dose back to the half dose and it came back a little bit and I've had to take domperidone blessed thistle and fenugreek to keep my supply at enough. I so wish I would have done this sooner, but at least now I know/hope that with number 2 I should be able to nurse more easily!
Anyway if you are taking effexor and have low supply, it could be the meds doing it! Iwanted to pass it on.
