Bend it Like Beckham

Anyone else seen it? It's good, innit?

I had really enjoyed director Gurinder Chadha's first film Bhaji on the Beach, so I had high hopes for Beckham. I liked it even more than I thought I would, which is saying a lot. It's a very funny and moving film, and a nice reworking of a tried and true formula. I may not be able to wait for the US DVD to come out, I just might order the Region 2 disc from Amazon UK.

Yeah well I don't go to dvdtalk.com or the evil Middle East so much , so my player plays only zone 1 stuff. But next month in Europe we'll buy a new one, and then I'll check this out. It sounds real good!

It's in theatres now, silly Dutch girl...

That's where I saw it.

I don't go to theaters. The good thing is, I don't "even" go for disney releases. But I remember Bhaji on the Beach, and I will get the dvd when it comes out.

You almost-goldmember you. I'll prolly be on the road when it happens, but I'll try to post-cybermail you guys some herbs to help celebrate :0

I thought this movie was out on video.

It's in theaters only? :

Man, that sucks. I want to see this movie soooo badly. But, I can't see it in a theater!

The film is out on video, but only in the UK, where it was released last year. I don't know why it's taken so long to screen it in the US.

Why don't either of you go to movie theatres? Is it due to the expense, or a more generalized theatre phobia? OK, OK, I have to confess, I scored some free passes for a sneak preview this time. I don't usually go to first run movies; I usually wait for the movies to go to the budget theatre.

Phobia? Expense? :LOL :LOL (though expenses do suck)

No, small child at home. Never got into the babysit thing (nobody wants to watch a child who's up till 1 am), but after our move there'll be family members galore so I'll get back into it. Once ds1 (due July) is a toddler.

Chaka lives in Indiana or something. Nothing in theaters that doesn't star Bruce Willis.

Saw it a couple of weeks ago-loved it! And I think I've seen a total of three movies in a theater in the past three years, so that tells you how interested I was for it to put my ass in one of those sticky seats...

: Yeah, that's it.

I don't go to theaters unless the movie is free. Period. (that's how I get to see Harry Potter and the COS this weekend! simonee, that's one of the perks of living in Indiana. It's an old movie, but I wanted to see it on the big screen! Soooo worth it.)

I used to take my babies w/me, but then I had more and started worrying about their hearing being affected. (is it just me or have theaters gotten much louder over the past 4 years?)

Last movie I payed to see in the theater was Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I should have waited for the video.

Stop Press...

Good news, ladies and gents... The Bend it like Beckham DVD is due to be released in the U.S. next week. If you missed it the first time around, here's another chance to see it. Who said there are no second chances in life???
