quark: what went wrong?

So I tried making quark. Took buttermilk, right after making butter, and warmed it to about blood warm. Then I put it in a jar wrapped with a heating pad and left is most of the day and all night. This morning when I went to strain it, there was nothing "solid" and it just all passed through the cloth. Can anyone tell me where I went wrong?

Just thought I'd give an update incase anyone else runs into this problem. I talked to the farmer who brings our milk, and he told me that the cream has been thin lately (he just took on a new cow), so maybe this was the problem. Hopefully it will "thicken" up again soon. Then I will try the quark again.
