Wearing a wrap out and about

I have a ring sling, but earlier this year I got a wrap which I absolutely Love. The only thing I struggle with is how to use it when I'm out. If I am going one place only and we will be there for a while~ like grocery shopping~ I will put it on before we leave and then just put baby in it when we get out of the van. But if we have more than one place to go, getting in and out of the wrap makes it all messed up and I have to take it off and do it again, which I do not like because the ends drag in the dirt and yuck and I think my wrap is too beautiful for that: Plus it takes a while to get all situated and all the mobile children get antsy waiting for me.

So I have started to use the sling instead when I have several stops. I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions that would help me use the wrap more.

Thanks!

You can leave it on and walk around and pop your DC in and out of it. That's what I used to go with Alex. Of course you can't really do that with a rucksack

Jen, I used to have the same problem if I kept popping my dd in and out of the wrap over and over. The wrap would start to twist. Maybe try to adjust it after each time you take your baby out without undoing the whole wrap?

Sorry, I never really found a solution but I did find some wraps were better at poppabiliy than others.

Over at TheBabywearer I remember seeing photos of a mom putting a wrap on without the tails touching the ground. I think she tucked the tails into her pockets.

same problem here...I only use my wrap for long walks or if i'm going places on the bus...then he doesn't need to be taken in and out. If I need to take him in and out I use the mei tai.

Never really found a solution to that problem, I always have to readjust a bit after taking DS out. I don't usually have to undo the whole thing though - just readjust every time. What kind of knot are you doing? Some are more adjustable than others.

For short trips I use my Rebozo in a hip carry which is easy to take him in and out of without needing to adjust.

I use a 20" fleece wrap folded in half( it's cold here and I can unfold it for certain target areas) with front carrys and I have no problems popping DD in and out. All I have to do is spread the fabric between her legs and possibly epand the tuxedo belt part, but I can do that once I'm walking.
