Homebirthers roll call and status check!! - Page 2

Count me in! As of yesterday (37 weeks) our midwife can legally attend our homebirth! HOORAY!!! We've been accumulating supplies at the past couple of mw appointments, and are going to give the birth tub (mw's aquadoula) a trial run tomorrow. I think we're mostly set on homebirth supplies...the mw left us a plastic bin full of supplies, and I don't even know what all is in there. I suppose I should figure that out, and start piling up stuff that we might need during the birth in a place where dh can find it. Okay, add that to the to do list...

Our mw is out of town until the 30th, so the babe needs to STAY PUT until sometime after that...preferably until after the 12th, when my momma can be here too. But that's all just wishful thinking...the babe will come when *it* decides, not when I decide.

It's nice to see so many fellow homebirthing mommas here (and no worries, earthie_mama, for crashing our DDC...you're welcome here)!

ME! I'm about 36 1/2 weeks.

We got the tub at the prenatal appt. on Tuesday. My midwives do homebirths from 36 weeks on...so I'm ok'd for that now.

Already have my birth kit and all birth supplies collected.

Dh is gonna set up the birth tub tomorrow to see how to do it -- and then he's got the job of making sure the carseat base is correctly installed in the van...just in case it's needed in a hurry.

I made a sling Thursday and will keep making dipes until wee one is born or I can't reach the sewing machine anymore.

Hip joints are softening rapidly...hope that's a good sign!

I am happy to be pregnant for weeks more -- but I'm ecstatic to meet my daughter!

Not due until the very end of December, but we have the birth kit/other supplies ready and waiting in the crib! It is an affirmation every time I walk by and see it all ready to go Two more weeks and we'll be cleared for our homebirth (knock on wood)!! Best wishes to all of you!

We're all prepared for our homebirth here too! Got my tub, everything else is a go. Baby turned OP this week (sunny side up) but other than that everything is great! Come on down baby- we are ready!

Looking forward to telling you all our homebirth story soon.

Preparing for my first homebirth! (third birth overall) I'll be 36 weeks next week. DH has finally accepted the fact that we'll be doing this.

Still need to order the birth kit, but I have most everything else and just need to put it together. I'm getting nervous about the fishy pool I ordered 10 days ago and have heard nothing about -- they had better get on the ball and send it to me!!!

Along with my DH, my two daughters and the two midwives, I plan to have my mother here if she can make it in time. She's been very supportive of my homebirth plans. I wish I had someone dedicated to capturing everything with the digital camera, but I can't think of a friend who lives close enough and would not bring the wrong energy to the birth. Hopefully if I have the two cameras out, whoever is around will pick one up and start clicking!

My bathroom and jacuzzi tub are spotless, the house well on its way to that state. All baby's diapers and clothes and blankets and sling are cleaned and dried on the line, just need to fold and put away. Towels, sheets, etc., I guess I need to put them in a bag or on a shelf near my bathroom. I do need to get some snacks and tea in the house for attendants. MW visit coming right up and she'll bring the birth kit. Overall I'm completely ready, just little things would bug me if I went into labor right now, that mirror could be cleaner, I'd like the stove wiped down, etc. LOL!

This is my first, we're birthing at home and I am not quite ready! We have the fishy pool but no hose yet, nor a tarp of any kind; got chux pads today; have homeopathics and herbs for labor and after but no peri bottles... One more trip to the store ought to have me set up. Our house is not the usual disaster : (cleaned for midwife visit last week). Will get the rest together this week on my days off (still working FT--exhausting!!) since I am now 37 weeks and accepting the fact that this baby "could" arrive any time now. I think DH and I have been in denial about how close we are!

Becky, I ordered a fishy pool from QI and didn't hear from them for a week or so, when I thought I'd better double check my email. I located an email from them in my SPAM folder letting me know they were sold out and would be sending it in December!!! Yikes. So I cancelled my order and placed an order for the $50 pool at la bassine's website. Got it within a few days and I love it. Just wanted to let you know in case you went through the same trouble. Also, I'd order the birth kit NOW. It took almost 2 weeks to get here from Cascade- which is their usual turn around.

Good luck!

Wow -- thanks for the heads up. I didn't order mine from QI, but I never even considered an email may have gone into spam, and to tell you the truth, I'm already nervous since EVERYWHERE is sold out of those two Intex pools. What's up with that anyway!

Birth kit -- will order tomorrow. I'm always worried about preparing too far in advance, so I stupidly put off things until the last minute. Thanks for the prodding.

They must be popular! We had the same problem. That's when I decided to just pay more for a different kind and get it here asap for sure. I think my total was $60 for the pool and shipping through la bassine- and I'll clean it and reuse it this summer outside I think.

Another option is looking into mws/doulas in your area who may rent them out.

Good luck again!

I'm birthing at home at any moment now. I am finding it REALLY HARD to keep my house clean-ish for the birth, though, having 3 children already this time. I am going to have to just suck it up and let people see my house messy, I guess.

I am 36.5 weeks and I have everything almost ready. I've got everything for my birth kit, clothes are all washed, and the cloth diapers are ready. The only thing we really need to do is get the sheets sterilized - even though the midwife said it's not necessary. I just love the way they smell after being in the oven! Other than that I just need to keep up with the house - Keeping the floors swept, laundry off the floor, and dishes out of the sink.
I'm getting really excited, but hoping that I still have at least 3 more weeks before the babe decides to make its arrival.

: Yep! My 2 are keeping me hoppin' right now, so half the day is spent running around after everyone just keep the house as neat-as-reasonably-possible (or it seems that way anyways). I'm big on helping them help themselves, as it were, so that eases it up a little But they're pretty small.
Most people aren't too judgmental of an almost-due mama anyways!

Hold on...you got the La Bassine pool for $60 including shipping? Isn't that one quite a bit more expensive normally? Or am I :?

I'm homebirthing too, but all I have ready is a birth kit. I figure the kid will come regardless of what else I have done. I'm good to go though, whenever she wants to come she's more than welcome to come.

Nope- sorry to disappoint you! I was referring to an earlier post where I said I bought the $50 version off of the la bassine website. And with s/h I think my total was around $60. I still think mine (can't remember the name) is the same pretty much as THE La Bassine. I guess I'll find out soon enough!
