What is your method for making butter at home?

Also, is the liquid that is leftover whey? Can I use that for anything?

I use a hand mixer and a bowl. Mix on high until it starts to clump and you have liquid (which is buttermilk) than I start pouring it off. Continue until you have all the buttermilk out. THen I rinse the butter with ice cold water and mix again...pouring the water off as I go. Then add in salt to taste.

I use the buttermilk in pancakes, bisquits, or other soaking.

How much butter will you get from say a pint of cream? I can get cream for $4 pint...

a pint of cream will give you about 1/3-1/2 cup butter probably..depends upon the cream.

I used to make butter in my blender..let it blend for a few minutes than strain it off and save the buttermilk for pancakes or biscuits.
