A Little Announcement from Me (x-posting)

It's STILL snowing here..it's that heavy wet nasty snow. In other words, power is precarious, we already lost it once. This is *NOT* a good time for a homebirth, and if I were to go into labour I would have to meet my midwife at the hospital via ambulance because our car is not equipped to drive in it (they dont know what a snow plow is off of mount washington I guess)

So If you dont hear from me it means one of two things: Baby or my power is out. I'll *try* to check in throughout the day...but just letting you know, it's that nasty wet icky snow....the stuff that snaps hydro lines..

I'm gonna bang out a rudementary birth plan in MS word and while DH keeps the driveway clear (No I'm not in labour yet, but it's a basic safety precaution to allow ambulance access)

I want this baby to stay in at least till this is gone, West Coasters dont know how to drive in this stuff...(no offense lol, I"ve lived here on and off most of my life, I KNOW West Coasters dont know squat about driving in snow)

I'll be the first to agree with you--I can't drive in that stuff! I know to go it slow and all that, but it still freaks me out when I have to drive in snow, esp. the really cold and sloshy rainy-snow.

Good luck with everything! I hope if you have to go to the hospital it is still comfortable enough for you.

Take care!

It is snowing here too... I have to agree with you that 'we' can't drive in the snow. However, it is raining to the north and south of us so, i don't know if our's will stick around for a while or not.

Good Luck

No kidding, they don't even know what winter tires are as for me I live in snow have lived in snow country all my driving years. And hey Neutral works really well on hills as you keep taping on the breaks, hope that baby stays a bit longer

that works out by Golden where people KNOW better (well sortof...except the tourists...)

But here...where it's Country Kitchen Buffet territory as well as balding tire poorly maintained scrapheap territory (off base that is) it's "OMG ONOZ TEH SNOWZ IZ GUNNA EATS US!!!!!"

If it stayed up in the ski hills I would be happy...

At least they know what a snow plow is up in the ski hills..

But here....no...I think they expect the cars to do it or something....I dunno..it's stupid...

OR... it is studs the minute the calendar says WINTER... I swear if my MIL could have 4 studded tires on from November to May she'd be happy. (and she lives on the penninsula!)

Studded tires aren't as bad as the balding...trust me..

The balding tire ballet is just....BREATHTAKING to watch... :

Playing the "Blue Danube" in my head while watching all these senior citizens and the Volks mini buses with balding tires sliding all over the roads......it's just beautiful..

Oh let's not forget the Darwin award winners who think that snow isn't a big deal, and still take out their kawasaki crotch rockets to get from point A to Point B full throttle and wind up turning into chunky salsa...

Hope the weather keeps baby inside! I've heard that snow in your area causes major issues I'm expecting to have this baby in a snowstorm, but that would be okay where I live. MW lives 5 minutes away, and we do a lot of four wheel driving in the winter anyways. In a pinch dh could go get her in the tractor or ATV Wouldn't that be special?
Hope your power stays on, too.
