odd question late in the game-where do you feel kicks?

So this is kind of an odd question for me to ask late in the game. My midwife thinks this baby may be posterior, and I agree. If I'm on my back, I have the flattening/plateau thing going on below my belly button. My belly seems squishier than I remember it being w/ DS. (and i"m not a fluffy mama).

2-3 weeks ago Midwife thought baby was posterior. Last appt midwife thought baby was right occiput transverse. Kicks were on my left side during that appt, which is rare, and she thought she felt the back on my right side, but we weren't sure. I don't think this is how my baby is usually positioned though. I think she flipped later in the day back to posterior with her back toward my left side?

I sometimes think I feel a back on my left side, and a butt under my left ribs, but I'm not sure. Most kicks tend to be under my right ribs or right in the center, between my ribs and belly button.

I do occasionally get kicks right at my belly button. I've heard this can signal a posterior baby.

When baby kicks, I can grab a foot sometimes. Again, I think a sign of baby being posterior? I can't remember if DS did this?

I think she's still moving around depending on my position. I'm over 38 weeks now, 2nd baby. I think I felt similar kicks w/ DS in terms of location but I think he may have been posterior and flipped about a week before my labor started. Not sure though.

Baby had hiccups the other night which were toward my left side, down in my pelvis and also up higher, which I presume was her back. That supposedly can signal baby being in a good anterior position.

I'm doing spinningbabies (have my whole pregnancy which is why I'm frustrated), seeing a chiro that does Webster stuff, using homeopathic pulsatilla, and visualization. My midwife says it isn't as big of a deal w/ a 2nd labor. DS's birth was really, really easy, and I'm paranoid this time things will be tougher w/ a posterior babe. I'm trying to hold out hope she'll flip.

Anyway, can you all share w/ me where you are feeling kicks right now late in your pgcy? I don't think my midwife is very certain of position (I keep seeing the same one of three in recent weeks, so I'm curious if I see a different midwife this coming visit what her opinion will be). I can't palpate this baby well to save my life.

I do have a lot of symphysis pubis pain with position changes and a lot of bladder pressure, which can be consistent w/ posterior.

I am feeling kicks/movement everywhere... down low which I hope and believe are her hands... sometimes feels like tapping on the top of my cervix, sometimes feels like she is punching out from side to side. Up high in my belly, sometimes I can tell her feet are in a specific spot... other times it seems like she MUST be doing the splits in there or something! I will have big movement on both sides of my belly!

My husband says she must be *flexible!* I am trying not to worry about it too much!

I'm feeling pretty much the same things as PrettyPixels at this point. I feel lighter movements lower in my belly and stronger movements a bit higher, so I think he's head down right now. I'm feeling his hiccups low now too.

i tend to feel "ripples" more than kicks....and they're usually up high, and on my left side.....but I do feel a few ripples down below as well....I'm 39 weeks 2 days.

My baby flipped from being Right Occipital Anterior (where I could feel it's butt and back all the time, and kicks in my middle and left upper belly) to total Occiput Posterior which is SOOO obvious to me now. When super baby kicks me in the middle, my belly looks like a tent, like something sharp is sticking out of my belly. I no longer feel a hard little butt- just legs and feet. I also was able to "caress" a little thigh or calf up and down the other day- totally weird but I totally bonded with the little creature because of it.

I did hands and knees and let my belly hang in the water, etc, to try to get baby back in a better position (or better- in a Left OA which is the best!) but it will not turn. So I'm kinda giving up- I assume that the baby must be turning the best way for it to start the labor/birth process. My baby has been so active and I know it will turn a lot even in labor. So I think the best I can do for now is let it settle into my pelvis, and I will spend a lot of time on hands/knees, in the water, and my butt up in the air during the birth to encourage it to flip to OA.

Hope that helps.
Rachelle (who is the "position guru" according to a client of mine- I'm totally into the spinning babies stuff and believe baby position is ALMOST everything having to do with a good birth!!!)

Lilcrunchie, most of the time I feel what you described, with a butt on my left side and most kicks on the right under the ribs or in the center. The butt isn't right under my ribs - DD's was. This baby is sitting lower. I also feel pressure on the cervix, bladder, and the front of my pubic bone. Sometimes the feet under my ribs really stick out - I guess I can kind of grab them.

So I don't know the name for this position LOL - but, what I know is that my baby has been in this exact same position since probably week 28, and I also know my DD was positioned this same way and her birth was very easy and she came out with her face toward my tailbone (whatever that is called).

So I feel good about how this babe is positioned. I couldn't tell from your post how you think yours is positioned right now... but hopefully he/she spins to a good position and stays!!

SHe just doesn't want to make up her mind LOL. Last night she did a HUGE shift in the middle of the night. She went to right occiput transverse again (that's what she was at my midwife last week). Kicks are back on my left side, I think her back is on my right (she had hiccups and I could definitely feel them in her back, although oddly this time I couldn't feel them in her head down in my pelvis as usual).

For some reason she seems to be doing everything BUT LOA for me! I guess it is good that she still has enough room to be moving around though.

Sigh. I think I need to just let it go and try to have faith that she'll find her way out in the easiest way possible, but it is really hard for me to do that!
