I'd like to buy an air purifier or 2 for our home. Does anyone have any recommendations? Is it worth it for the meantime, or should I just wait till we can afford to buy a new furnace?

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This is the prettiest carrier, and fit my shoulders and figure (at 5'6") much better than the Ergo. I got it when my daughter was about nine months, two years ago - it doesn't appear to have...

Consumer Reports (library) and the EPA (online) both have articles on this.
Basically, the keywords are HEPA standard. You do not want ionizers or ozone generators.
My two Enviracare units are 12+ and 7 years old. Both work very well, but newer models are quieter and more energy efficient. They have charcoal prefilters and internal HEPA filters. The newer Enviracaire has a built-in ionizer. I would *not* buy it, but I'd buy a Honeywell model without that.
