Room Spray

Anyone have a good holiday room spray recipe?

It's not really a spray (though I could use some of that right now that DH is in the room releasing noxious gases) but I just throw some orange/whatever citrus peels, some whole cloves, and a couple of cinnamon sticks into a small pot with water and simmer it on the stove for awhile. Ahhhh, smells sooo good!

Maybe some EOs in a spray bottle with water would work for a quick and inexpensive room spray?

Good idea, Perl. In our family, we get oranges and 'pin' cloves into the orange in different designs. The more cloves, the more scent (it reacts with the orange peel and a little bit of the juice that is inside the orange). That really works well too and looks decorative.

I should have been more specific - an EO room spray recipe is what I am looking for. I have been burning pine, tangerine, and cinnamon in my diffuser lately. That smells great! If anyone else has any good compbinations I'd love to hear them. Also, how many drops EO per ounce of water?

I like 8oz water, 1 TBSP white vinegar, 10-20 drops EO.

My personal fave is lavendar EO only. But I also like lavendar mixed with citrusy smells. Like grapefruit or lemongrass.

BTW, I use the same mixture for wiping down surfaces/counters/tables, etc.

I just made some peppermint scented spray & pine scented spray (distilled water & EO). but I'm wanting a vanilla mint spray. I smelled some Method brand vanilla mint spray at target this weekend and it was heavenly but $$. I'd love to make my own but I'm not sure what to use for the vanilla since I've not seen a vanilla EO.

I was thinking about other combos last night, so I'm hoping others post w/good combo ideas!!

The best room spray I've ever made was in a vodka base. When I used water, it smelled funky after a while which made me believe the water was growing bacteria. Just buy some cheap vodka and add whatever essential oils you like in a spray bottle. That way it doesn't go bad ever.

Happygirl6 - there is vanilla EO at a store I go to - would you like me to see how much it is, and I could get you a bottle and send it to you?

I like plain peppermint - I have a little spritz bottle, I think 4 oz? And I use like 10 drops of peppermint, I also use distilled or boiled water cuz our water has funky stuff in it. A drop or two of sweet orange is oddly enough nice with peppermint, too.
