2nd time mommies......how did first labor start?

My first labor started with my water breaking at like 5am. No contractions until hours and hours later. I'm curious how other people's labors have started......yes, I'm trying to keep myself entertained!

I woke up at 3am with contractions that felt a LOT different. I remember they started in the back, moved around to the front, and then made me feel like I was going to throw up! I did not want to be laying in bed anymore.

Mine started with what felt like a little backache/spasm. It kept waking me up and then I decided to time them...sure enough, they were regular. Then they started to radiate to the front...painless, like BH's but regular. The intensity did not pick up until hours later.

Water breaking... unmistakable! I'm lucky I didn't have to go through the wondering "Is THIS contraction 'real'? What about THIS one?"

My water broke (trickled) 5 days before labor started. Once labor did start though, it was wam-bam contractions every 3 minutes accompanied by rectal pressure. I'd only been asleep for 2 hours, but I thought I'd slept through labor and was ready to push! So we got to the hospital right away (thinking I was far along) and I was only 2cm!

The rest is a much longer story.

This time it's so different- I didn't have a real pain until I was in labor with my dd. This time, I'm having crampy ctx ALL the time, they come and go when they please and they will not stay long enough to produce a baby- it's driving me nuts.

I lost the mucous plug & noticed the bloody show about 24 hours before I started having contractions, which felt a lot different from the BHX I'd been having. My second time, I didn't see the blood or anything. I just started feeling really uncomfortable late in the evening.

mine was feeling sleepy and craving carbs the day before, then it was just as if the BHs got a little more frequent, then they started making me feel... uhh... desirous of dh. And those sensual feelings kept coming in waves, I finally timed them and figured out they were very regular. As soon as the midwife showed up it changed from sexy/pleasurable to ow.

Guess I'm not entirely sure where it started.

I had the flu the night before and was coughing and sneezing all night. I think that's what broke my water. They induced me the next night.

With DS, I was contracting for about 3-4 weeks before my due date, mostly in the car, and they were mostly in my back. Nothing regular, but they were definitely not BH. I was 2cm dilated, 75 percent effaced 3 weeks before my EDD. A week later, 2 cm and 80 percent effaced. A little over a week before my EDD, I was 3cm and 80 percent effaced at my midwife appt.

The week before I went into active labor, my back contractions actually stopped entirely. No action going on down there to speak of.

2 days before I went into labor I got SUPER nauseous at night. DH had cooked pork (which we rarely eat) on the grill, and I kept tossing and turning in the middle of the night telling him I had trichinosis and he should call the midwife. I was having hot flashes and nausea.

I felt better the next day. We went out to Valentine's dinner at a Thai place. Came home and watched a movie. DS was going CRAZY inside me. SUPER active. Kinda weird. Our plans were to try to get labor jump started the next day...lots of walking, sex, whatever it took I was finally feeling ready for things to start. Oh, and my doula had been away for a week but was back on call at 8am the next morning.

THe next day DH got up and started breakfast. I stayed in bed for a while. I did do some (TMI) nipple stim as it was bringing on contractions. A few mins later, I felt the first trickle...and like lots of people wondered if I peed myself (I always thought it was funny that people couldn't tell, but I was in the same boat) I got up, and a lot more came out...I was slipping and sliding to the bathroom

Contractions were immediately 5 mins apart and 1 minute in duration. There was no doubt in my mind it was the real thing. The original plan was to labor at home or at my doula's for a while, but my midwife wanted me in ASAP as I was already 3cm, and lived an hour from the hospital.

DS was born 6 hours 20 minutes (including pushing for 20 minutes) after my water broke. My actual labor contractions were NOT in my back, just mild cramping. I used Hypnoibirthing.

This time I'm dreading if things are not as clear cut...it was so easy to know last time that it was the real thing. This baby is also posterior so I'm worried about a lot of prodromal labor. We shall see!

I skipped internals entirely this time (I'm also in a different state, with different midwives) as they obviously didn't tell me much last time

I had some bleeding after my vaginal exams during my first pregnancy, but never a spontaneous bloody show. I never lost my plug until I was well into active labor.

A little warning this time would be nice

I had some BH thru the night that I barely woke up for, then a big splash at 4 AM. Thought I totally lost control of my bladder nope, waters breaking. Contractions 5 minutes apart from then onwards...for 17 hrs

w/ both my boys it was pretty similar. I sprung a high slow leak and then a little while later started feeling like i was getting my period. The cramps got stronger but nothing that I could ever time. THen it felt like I had diareah and was really crampy and had to take a bm. THen w/ ds 1 I pushed for 4 hrs bcs his hand was stuck on my pelvis but w/ ds 2 when I felt like I had to take a bm I jumped in the tub and woosh he flew out. So I wonder if this will be similar or not? it has me very curious.

I woke up at about 2 am and my belly was itching like crazy. I got up to pee and then put some oil on my belly. The itching did not stop. I kept rubbing my belly and then got up to get some lotion to put on it. Still the itching continued. I stood up again and my water broke. I said outloud I think my water broke and dh shot up out of bed. He was like did your water break anI was like I don't know maybe I peed a little. Then was like no I just went to the bathroom and the water kept dripping a little bit. My contractions didn't start until about 1.5 hours later. 28 hours later ds was born.

I'm just being nosey not in this ddc, but my 1st labour i woke up up with pains in my back coming evry 20 mins then went to toilet and noticed a big glob of red jelly (soz tmi) in my pjs, my contractions came every 20 mins for a while so phoned the mw and about 5 mins before she came they stopped and then typicly (sp) started again 5 mins after she left. They then came came evry 20 mins agin for a couple of hours, then 5 mins for a few hours and then every 1-2 mins for about 15 hrs then my dd was born 22 hrs 55 mins after the first contraction

Mine were like menstual-cramps, that started to increase in intencity. No water breakage or back pain. Water broke already in the hospital 24 hrs later.

My first labour started with my waters breaking while I was at a friends' house for dinner. We had dessert and went home, I laboured all night at home very well, my midwife arrived at 6am and we went to the hospital when I was 7cm, where I laboured for another 24 hours drug-free, but it ended in a c-section because I ended up with failture to progress because he was occiput posterior and cord around his neck, he got stuck, didn't turn - so section......

This time it's already a bit different, I lost the mucous plug last weekend, but no onset of labour as yet, it's been a week since I lost it...I never even saw that last time. I wonder what's going to happen this time, hopefully no c-section.

A had a tiny little gush of something at 11pm. Not enough to be my water and actually my bag was still intact when I got to the birth center. By 3 I was in pain and contractions 5 minutes apart so we went to the birth center. I had him at 7:30 am

I walked and walked and walked and walked trying to get it to start but nothing. Finally when I was 40 weeks 6 days the doctor induced me. I was sooooooooooooo ready to have him !
