Nobody I know really babywears. I have one friend who owns an OTSBH, but never/rarely uses it because it makes her back hurt. I've got another friend who recommended the Baby Bjorn (which I bought & before I knew better threw away the box on even though it's still brand new. urgh - $120 wasted.) I had picked it up to use for her when walking the dog; that was the extent to which I planned to use it. My how things change.
:
My love affair with babywearing came about because I had an emergency c-section. The 10lb weight restriction kept me from lifting her in her car seat (I bought a Peg Perego because it was rated high for safety; little did I know it weighed 10,000lbs), and once I could drive again I was most anxious to get out and about. I researched at home & my one of first driving excursions was up to purchase a moby wrap. Best decision EVER!
There's been no looking back since then. DD spent a large chunk of yesterday in her mei tai, with frequent breaks. We got a ton done around the house, and I'd like to think some learning / development too . . . we sang songs and counted stairs every time we went up & down from the basement, for example. And I'd like to think that carrying the extra weight will help me lose some of this extra weight too!
So, what led you to babywearing? Is it a considered "normal" where you're at, or something you discovered? What led you to learn about it / try it?

: ) at the fabric store once too and wanted so badly to start a conversation, but she was checking out and I just couldn't figure out how without looking like a nut.
