CO and raw honey as moisturizers

I've been using coconut oil and honey as moisturizers on my face, hands and feet. Oh my goodness! My skin feels so soft. My mom said she could *see* the difference.
Just thought I'd share my love affair with honey and CO. Not only do I eat them, I wear them! They both work great! I've also used raw honey as shampoo. It leaves my hair feeling nice and soft. Plus, it tastes better than shampoo when it runs down your face as you rinse!
Enjoy!

I use olive oil to wash my face and instead of a moisturizer.

i use only CO as a moisturizer for me and the kids. i also use it as a hair conditioner. and of course i cook with it. dh is starting to wonder what we *can't* do with CO. LOL

I've been using olive oil for a facial moisturizer but as it's been getting colder my face is getting to dry. so I will try the co and honey tomorrow. I hope it helps as all commerical moisturizes (even organic and "sensitive" brands) break me out and I get hives.

I use oatmeal to wash my face every day, the only thing that works for me.

Thats what we do to . I've been using coconut on my 2 y/o's legs (she has mild eczema dry patches on them) and it really makes the skin smoother. It also make my hair really shiny. I stop buying coventional lotions and decided just to use the co for us. I love it.

I use jojoba oil on my face and I absolutely love it. I used to have combination dry/oily skin all the time (I'm sure all those prescription acne meds didn't help) and now my face always looks great, not dry or oily, no matter how hot it gets.

I tried coconut oil on the eczema on my DD's cheeks several times but it always seems to make it look worse...not sure why

oh yes, I have been using CO on my hair (which is down to my waist) and my body for awhile now. I LOVE it!! I use it on my pregnant belly everyday too. And I no longer buy any commercial shampoo/conditioner/lotion.

I also have moderate exzema and CO has worked better than any other lotion or creme ever has. I can even take baths again. I just put it in the bath water and I don't even have to apply anything afterwards.

how do you use honey as shampoo? I have been doing the no-poo thing for a while and I like it but it seems to make my hair too dry....honey sounds good

Coconut oil actually chapped (OUCH!) my skin. I posted in Natural Body Care and someone said it needs to be mixed with other ingredients or it will have that effect.

I have not tried co since because it hurt so bad (and I felt like a nerd using my "natural" stuff and having this huge painful rash on my face )

Yeah , sometimes I mix the co with a small amount of olive oil.

I used to be a professional soapmaker and you always use coccnut oil in soap, but never alone since it makes a very harsh soap....

I dissolve some in water so it's not quite so thick and gooey. The Really Raw brand is pretty thick! Then I just pour it on my head and scrub as usual. I usually rub some on my face and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I use co after to moisturize my face, hands and feet. Makes 'em so soft!

i've never heard of it causing chapping or being too harsh...i've been using it for about 6 months straight and my skin has never been nicer!

Maybe it's just too rough to use directly on excema?

I am trying to find alternative moisturisers so I may try some CO on something like my legs to see what happens. The CO I get is hard.

How does it do for SPF ? The one thing I can't seem to get past is we need something with a real strong SPF for day to day wear here. I've only found one decent natural moisturiser for sale with an SPF & it bungs my pores up totally

Hmm, maybe it's just the brand/type of CO? We use it on eczema here. I recently mixed some with lavender oil- as SF suggests at the end of EFLF. Nice!
