Honestly, I wasn't even sure I could post about this! I felt really weird about discussing stuff about MDC with her (considering how this thread began..) and I certainly don't want to compromise Soxfan Mom's postion. I am just not familar enough with journalistic ethics enough to know what to say and what not to say. But considering her column was based on VERY LITTLE research and entirely on her opinon

: I guess it's fine to discuss what was said...
In her defense she never divulged that she was the writer it was only after me taking 10 minutes trying to figure out where I have seen her face and name that I put 2 and 2 together...
I think the most interesting part of this very looonnngg convo was the sudden involvement of other women at the party. Mind you I was not attempting to discuss FF vs. BFing at all, but the issue ultimately turned to that

: . You have to understand that this area of NL is super-duper mainstream, the idea of bfing is "new" and "different" at best. One woman's story that seemed to stand out was a young woman who had a baby 8 years ago who only had 6 weeks off from work (as a casino craps dealer) and there was NO WAY she was even going to consider bfing and how the nurses were pressuring her and how horrible it was for them to do that to her, yadda, yadda. I felt really sorry for her...I could hear the guilt and resentment in her voice as thick as hot tar on old broken pavement! She's clearly mad for the wrong reason...our culture and society had not let her even have a choice and lack of education solidified that misunderstanding. The mentality here is that
Formula = Freedom!
As for the writer, her lack of education was clearly evident. I gave her a good education though

. She learned all about the Nestle boycott, the doctor payoff from the 30's and 40's, the pharmaceutical lobby, marketing in hospitals, the over-sexualization of female breasts, etc. She really had no idea why our culture "should" feel offended by uncovered breasts. This is how embedded in the mainstream these people are! Her column was just proliferating the same uneducated sentiment and giving good excuse to continue the culture of misunderstanding. But the truth will make its way out no matter how hard culture tries to quelch it.

Bottom line: Her breasts are for her and her husband's sexual enjoyment only. Nobody else should ever see them and they should never see anyone elses. I am paraphrasing a direct quote from her. Then I pointed out that I could see the majority of her breasts with the very sexy top she was wearing...

Oh well, there goes that argument!
