what size nipple shield?

Hi,

My daughter was 16 weeks premature and along with that came all of the trials and tribulations of exclusively pumping, a baby who couldn't latch, etc...

...she's now home and we're planning on trying to get her on the breast (she's currently bottlefed about 80%formula 20% expressed breastmilk). We're waiting on an SNS and once that shows up we plan on having all of her feeds be breast.

With that said - she's having a real hard time latching. If we need to go the nipple shield route, what size should I use? I have a 16mm and a 24mm Medela contact shield here.

She's 7lbs5oz and 2.5 weeks adjusted if that matters.

Thanks!

Medela recommends the smallest size possible. http://www.medela.com/newfiles/nipshield.html
I would use this unless it is causing you pain (I found too small made my nipples blister).
