Been in early labor since yesterday.... Midwife problems...

Well, I started having contractions yesterday around 4pm. I was having about 16 per hour about 3-4 minuets apart. I talked to my midwife and she said to go to L&D so I stayed home for a few more hours and went in at about 8pm. My contractions at that point were 2-4 minuets apart but were only really intesnse while standing and or walking. So she checked my cervix and I was dialiated to a fingertip. She sent me to walk for an hour and I had 16 really strong contractions. She then checked me again and I was still fiingertip but I was then 25% effaced as well. So she told me to go home and get some rest. She said I am in early labor.

Well, rest was impossible. I layed in bed for 4 hours and had contractions. Then my acid reflux acted up and my heart was racing and I started having a panic attack. I then sat in my living room and watched TV for a while. My contractions were still about 4 minuets apart. Finally I fell asleep for about an hour only to wake up to painful contractions that were about 2 minuets apart. So i ate some breakfast and now my contractions are not as intense but they are still coming. I am having hot flashs, I feel very weak, and I also have awful gas pains not to mention the stabbing pains that I get in my cervix when I stand up. I AM DONE. I want some Pitocin. I want this to be over.

Here is the problem. My ^%^**((&%$ Midwife is arguing with me about my due date. She says she cannot induce me before 39 weeks. She says I am only 38 weeks per my LMP. I have told her my entire pregnancy that I was irregular and that I only had sex one time that month and that it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to only be 38 weeks. I was 39 weeks yesterday. I am so pissed that she is arguing with me. She was rude and makes me feel like a bad person for wanting this baby out. My husband met her for the first time yesterday and he said he thinks she is a rude b@#ch.

I am so aggrivated right now.

Even going with her 38 wk calculation.....she determined that you are *in labor*. I don't understand why she is calling it inducement, when you are already in labor?

I am sorry she is giving you a hard time. The aggravation can not be helping your labor progress

Oh my. Man, doesn't your midwife know that you don't **^^%R$ with a woman in labor?!!! Good luck, we are thinking about you! Try to keep your eye on the prize

Oh, that has to suck BIGTIME!! I'd be pissed too!!

I hope progress speeds up for you soon.

I'm really sorry this is happening to you but wanted to say that my #1 recommendation would be to get in hands/knees with your bottom up in the air and try to get that baby in a good position- sometimes that's the reason you contract for a long time with no real dilation. That's exactly what I'd do if I were in your shoes.

Hope something happens for you soon and good luck with the birth!

Since she's already confirmed that you are in labor, giving you some help via drugs would be called an "augmentation", not an "induction".

Keeping you in my thoughts for a swift and successful birth.

Mama, I agree with the suggestion about working on baby's position. I had something like this happen as well and these contractions were work that my body was doing to help position my baby better.

Good labor vibes to you!

I hope that you're already cuddling your new babe, and if not I hope that you are very very close to it.

Amy-- how is it going today? Just looking for an update. Maybe you are celebrating Meadow being on the outside..?

hugs

that must really stink, having a midwife that won't give pit. That's one of the reasons why I will never use a m/w, I would much rather go to a doctor. They would be much more apt to give you pit right now with your contractions to make them stronger. Hugs and the only thing I can tell you is if/when you get pg again, don't go to her.

Doctors eagerness to administer pitocin is a double-edged sword...

I have a funny feeling Amy is off having her baby now, and that's why we haven't heard from her! I can't wait to here about her birth and little Meadow

Sorry you're going through this right now, Amy. I know it must be hard on you. Hopefully you're too busy birthing to post right now.
