hall of shame...hands free bottle feeding system.
http://www.mom4life.com/catalog.php?...Fcategory%3D63
i wrote a complaint letter asking the site to reconsider stocking this item.

update:
I did get a reply from the owner of the store (a WAHM) that was very nice and she said mothers of multiples have requested it and that her wish was that it would not be used as a bottle prop to free hands to do other things except caring for another baby. Which I thought was a great point and I can imagine if you have twins or triplets or more that it would be a helpful product, but i pointed out that is not how the product is advertised at all. it is marketed to all moms, not just mothers of multiples and it is marketed as a parental convenience product. the description makes it sounds like why bother to hold your baby to feed them.

that is really, really sad. and they say it meets "safety standards".....WTH?! I don't know any safety standards that are ok with feeding your baby unattended OR feeding them in a moving car as it suggests!! ugh! I feel bad for some babies....

That's one of the worst I've seen. It says " Imagine being able to feed your infant without having to hold the bottle." Can anyone here imagine that?
Yeah. it's called BREASTFEEDING!!

I can say I never held a bottle while feeding my DD ...( Ok I did try to give her BM in a bottle a couple times

Maybe we should pat. our delivery system and make some $$

well, I'll have to respectfully disagree here - my DD (2 on monday, still nurses ALL THE TIME) LOVES a podee sometimes, even asks for it. I put milk, water or sometimes juice in it.

To each his own. :

What they really meant was feed your baby with out bothering to hold, cuddle, sooth and pay attention to your baby.

How they market it bugs me more than the product itself. If they reccomended putting the bottle in a shirt pocket so you could hold baby with both hands and stroke them etc the way I have two hands for DS when I'm nursing. (ok right now only one hand is holding DS and the other is typing.)

Calling all folks...

Please ask the web site to stop carrying this product that decreases any type touching a baby receives.

Thanks,
PJJ

I sent them a post.

moved to update in my original post.

DS was FF for multiple reasons.

It was super super uncomfortable to try and cosleep with an infant that wanted to lay in a position that shoved a bottle in your nostril. It also made it EASIER for us to hold and snuggle while feeding, especially for skin to skin. It also ended alot of our struggles, as DS was trying to hold the bottle himself, couldn't and would get frustrated if we held it for him.

There are many situations where this product is appropriate, but I do agree that the marketing and product description needs to be reworked to reflect that.

This looks like a pretty cool invention for older children. My 3yo and 1yo would probably love something like this, sans the bottle part, but just the straw part. It is such a pain in the butt to keep track of the straw cups now that I have two of them to watch after (of course they can't share one cup, too many fights). To be able to strap it to the side of the stroller and just hand them the straw (hopefully with some sort of valve inside to prevent spilling).

I also could see this being used to nursing laying down, put the bottle nipple close to the breast and be able to snuggle. However, like others have mentioned it isn't marketed in that way at all. Even for multiples I couldn't imagine putting a 0 - 3+ month old down while they were eating. With something like this you could more easily hold both babies while bottle nursing them. However, again it is not marketed in that way at all.

So I think this product is great, but marketed very poorly, marketed tword bottle proping out of laziness or not wanting to take the time to hold and snuggle while baby is 'just eating'.

BTW I also send an email to the momma and basicly told her everything in my previous post. I am curious how she will respond.

I mostly told her I was offended by the way the product was marketed though I thought it was a great product that could be very useful to many people.

I know a mom of triplets who found that feeder to be a blessing.

I got a very sweet response to my letter the day I sent it. She changed the wording to the product and I am pretty sure took off some of the pictures of infants using it. IMHO it is much better than the original. The momma who owns the shop sounds very sweet and sincer. I think she just didn't realize how she was marketing as a no baby holding system.

It's on amazon.com too, I've left reviews, which haven't been well received, lol.
