Sling Question

Hi...I have a ? about slings. I have bad lower back problems and I dislocated my L shoulder years ago...So I experience some pain in my lower neck/back. I tried the baby bjorn...which was a waste of my time...it KILLED MY BACK. So I bought a sling that rests on one shoulder and goes around to front. It was hard to position dd and I couldn't sling her for long periods. There was NO WAY I would make it through a grocery shopping trip. I'm expecting #2 and really want to wear him, with little or no pain. I've noticed so many different styles. Can anyone recommend one for me? One that maybe evens out the weight throughout the upper body? Thanx for reading!!

I have lower back issues and I love my mei tai. Of course my ds is only 8 lb so far but the MT distributes weight evenly so it's great.

I also recommend a mei tai. If you want to use it from the newborn stage on, you need one that has some support for baby's head. Check out the ones at www.wrappedupinlove.com to see what I mean.

Maybe a Moby for newborn? I agree with the mei tai suggestion, more for older babes. The weight distribution on both is good.

Mei Tais are great, but I don't really feel like my newborn is that secure in them. I just bought a Moby Wrap and LOVE it! It distributes the baby's weight evenly over the entire back/shoulders and works with babies preemie-35 lbs. It's also very versatile with about 5 different ways to position the baby.

I vote for wraps. The moby is especially comfy when they're little. It's easy to get them in & out of too. I have an Ella Roo wrap also and I really like it too.

Stretchy wrap for newborn, absolutely. Any 5% spandex fabric will do. You need about 5 yards depending on how big you are. Moby is good and so is Ultimate Baby Wrap. My Baby's Nest is great if you don't want to wrap but they run absolutely huge so get a much smaller size than you think you need.

For once they start getting heavier, get an Ergo. Although I don't have Mei Tai experience, I know lots of moms with Ergos, and everyone loves it, including me. People w/ back problems love them. www.theergolady.com is my friend and she is WONDERFUL with cust. service and gives a free trial!
