Nestle buying Gerber?

I read an article today in the Wall Street Journal that Nestle might be buying Gerber. I tried to find the article online but it wasn't available. I just thought I'd give everyone a heads up about this possible change in ownership, so that those who are boycotting Nestle can act appropriately.

oops! I posted because I thought they were buying all of novartis, but it is indeed just gerber.
sorry!

Dang it! Gerber Sippy cups are the only ones James will use...crap

Oh crap! And we have Gerber life ins...

Yes, I realize baby life ins is stupid, but DH is Type 1 diabetic, if God forbid, James were to develop diabetes I want him to have life insurance, not be screwed like DH and I are. If something happens to DH I'm stuck because we can't get life insurance on him.

Sorry JamesMama about your DH not being able to get life insurance! That's just rediculous! Maybe you could call your state's insurance commissioner to find out if there is any way he can get some life insurance, or if there are alternatives out there that he can get.

And yes it is indeed just Gerber not all of Novartis. I searched when I posted orignailly and discovered that talks of a Nestle takeover have happened in the past. So I guess it's still up in the air if this will actualy happen or not. Stay tuned...

He can, we've checked into it, but tht premiums are just out of sight...I think one we looked into was well over $100 a month. And most places (all but 2 that we checked into) just flat out say "Nope, nothing doing."
