keep keeping-on! I can't wait to get home from work. I really want to get some more stuff out before midnight tomorrw. Now, it's almost like a game---I really was surprised how much I got rid of yesterday...

I actually have a "junk" drawer in my dresser that needs going over
and, both of my kids need their socks and pajamas drawers edited, but I'm thinking that might be a January goal.

I'm so glad you posted. I was lonely after my post, wondering if everyone is still digging around and flinging like mad. I hope so.

What are we going to do for January? I have an idea of having a cost-free home improvements challenge---how many fix's, repairs, improvement can you get done in January that cost NO MONEY. And during January, I will make my list for fix's/repairs/improvements for February that would cost a modest amount. Where do you think I would post something like this? Are you interested?

I think everyone is so busy with the holidays.. and maybe some are buried underneath holiday 'gifts'
I think the improvement thread for January sounds like a great idea! There are a lot of things around here that need to be fixed. Some can't be done until the spring (powerwashing the house, painting the porch), but I'm sure I can find some to get done for January.
I have a lot of organizational projects to get done.. and lots of decluttering, too! I will be MIA for the first part of January since we will be going out of town, but I'll jump right in and join your thread as soon as I get back!

Thanks!
If nobody else starts a January decluttering thread, maybe you could start one of those as well? I need the continued support & motivation and I have so much more work ahead of me, so I'd love to jump into one of those when I get back

328/500 - old total

threw away 2 wipe off books that wouldn't wipe off anymore
recycled 2 magazines/catalogs
freecycled 20 toddler boy clothing items
freecycled box of holiday decorations (14 items)
threw away 3 old pairs of socks and an old pair of shoes

370/500 - new total

Okay, well I won't make my goal of 500 by the new year but I'm still plugging away.

You know you're a hunter/gatherer when, while reading others' Tossed lists, you find yourself thinking, "Oh! I wish I could have that. I wonder what kind of shape that was in?"

No numeric goal for NY, but I need to buckle down and declutter/organize photos in 07. Haven't had/made time yet, but it's on my list of goals. It could mean pitching lots of doubles, negatives, and bad photos. (It took me until adulthood to realize it's okay to throw a photo away.) I might get nutty and put some photo album pictures into envelopes and into a photo box. Some are not so important and they take up a lot of space on the shelf.

Hey, I just posted a January no-cost home repair/improvement challenge in the "mindful home management" forum---come on over and list your photo projects for January---that totally qualifies!

Alright, I am eating lunch and taking a breather, but I am in the processes of cleaning up and out my spare room. It turning into a messy messy storage room! Anyways, for this mornings work here I go.

There too much to list specifically, but it is mainly clothes, toys and junk to trash.

Trashed: 35
To donate (in trashbags by the door!): 240
To sell (in a box by the door to take to the thrift store and consign): 25

Total so far today: 300! yay!

I told myself...300 items and you can eat lunch haha.

Now up to: 432/500 and still more time to go.

Well, I, too, am a linen junky. So, all your linens. (I'm feeling your pain on this one.) And the books. And the cookbook stand. And....You know. The things that are interesting but one doesn't really need.

I'll head over to the MHM forum for the improvements thread. Sounds perfect. Thanks!

Ok, let me set your mind at ease:

-the linens were totally boring, almost institutional!
-the book stand was super cute, silver chrome, but none of my cookbooks would fit in it . it was on our wedding registry (we've been married 5 years) and maybe we used it three times. The coolest thing I got rid of was the green kitchen stool/step stool. It was vintage, green and cool but it kept getting in our way and it wasn't the right height (too tall) for our table. I put it in the alley and in less than 5 minutes one of the metal scavenger trucks picked it up.

The marble/glass cheese bell was cool, but I got it at the thrift store and we never used it. The thrift store price was still on it.

I think I've done this! Mine also was a thrift purchase. It's like I sometimes buy (thrifty-style, not new prices) for my fantasy lifestyle. Yes! So many opportunities to serve a leisurely pre-meal brie and crackers with the friends...

PS Thanks for soothing me about the linens.

Okay, have to start getting the house picked up for the sitter and getting ready for our night on the town! We got a sitter!!!!!!

Anyways, here is the little bit I got done after lunch:

To trash: 23 items including some nasty pillows and one of those foam pad things for the bed. Maybe someone will jack it from the trash room so it won't be a waste.

To donate: 7 items

Plus I found 3 stamps that I need to return to the Arts and Crafts Center on base. I keep forgeting to do this!

So total number of things that have (or are waiting by the door to) leave my house: 465/500

May not reach my goal but it's dang close. Maybe I'll clean out the fridge while cooking dinner....haha.

-----------------------------------------------

Since no one has posted after me yet, I thought that i would add this:

I REACHED MY GOAL WHILE COOKING DINNER!!

To Trash: 36
To Donate: 1

Add 37..... 502/500!! Yay!

Now to start on my January goal.......

Congrats to vixenmama! Whoo hoo! I was very impressed and decided to clean some of the window blinds in the apartment. Halfway there!

Although I am very curious about the puppet theater....
