turning off the phone, unplugged the doorbell

I can't take it any longer! Yesterday I had 3 emails and 3 phone calls asking if baby was here yet. Apparently, they are ready for the baby now, so baby should be here! : So, we're going to start turning off the ringer, we're gonna unplug the doorbell, and have email send out an auto-response that we're not available (don't call us, we'll call you!). Anyone else getting ready to "shut-down"?

Good idea! I haven't had anyone bother me with that yet (other things instead!). Isn't it crazy that before your "due date" people start bothering you!!?? Very frustrating.

I had to do this wth DD's birth too as it was a homebirth. I was in labor on and off for a week and people just kept calling. Even if we told them "We'll call you when we have a baby" they still kept on. Finally we just did what you did, turned everything off. It pissed a lot of people off but seriously, I was BUSY birthing a child. STOP ASKING IF ITS HERE!!!

Good for you, don't feel bad.

Saw this on new posts...

I had to do that with my son's birth. We told EVERYONE when the baby was due, and that came back to bite us in the butt when he was 9 days over his edd.

This time, we just told people that we were expecting "in November." Our parents and my best friend knew the actual due date, but no one else. It was SO NICE! We had a couple people ask at the beginning of the month, but we just restated that we were expecting sometime in November and why we were saying that (it was so rewarding to tell the people that bugged us last time that we weren't sharing the date because we were hounded with his pregnancy!). Plus, when she went 3 days over, no one knew!

Just a FYI if you think you might have more kids down the line.

Yes, someone already called me to see if I had the baby yet. I'm only 37 weeks. In her defense I think she thought the due date was around now though.

Not yet. I haven't really been bothered too much, though. My mom calls every other day to ask if there's been anything happening for a few weeks now, but other than her it's pretty quiet. I told her the other day this baby will probably wait until well after my EDD & to ask me again in a few weeks. I think she got the hint. She didn't ask when I talked to her earlier, though I'm sure she wanted to.

Yeah, on the way to church last Sunday my DH had to seriously ask me to "please not be totally mean to people who say stupid things" cuz the night before I'd totally snapped at a friend's neighbour who said "you're still here??!!" by saying "I'm not even due yet" in a very sharp tone and walking away.

So the first thing someone says to me when i walk in "So you haven't split into two then???" I just had to smile broadly at that one.....what a weird thing to say.
thankfully everyone else said the slightly less offensive "not long now then???"

In at attempt to get on with things as normal as possible so that i'm not completely bored out of my mind, i'm going ahead and singing with my band on Sunday morning and when I told my husband he just said "be prepared for people to say silly things to you!!" oh well.....maybe my water will break on stage...now THAT would be something to comment on.
