child spacing...two children close...then wait....then two children close again...

i'm wondering if any of you have had two children close in age, then waited a few (4 in this case) years and then have two children close in age again. if so, do you have any feedback about the spacing?

i'm blessed with two dds who are 20 months apart. they are now 2 yrs and 4 yrs. the first year was very demanding, but we're committed attachment parenting/parenting from the heart parents and did absolutely everything in our power to tend to their needs. i tandem nursed...we all cosleep...and i LOVE LOVE LOVE being their mom!!! it is SO wonderful to see how close they are---best friends really. i'm so thankful they have each other.

i do want to have more children. four would be wonderful. but i don't really want to rush things....i'm thinking that maybe we would wait to add another wonderful child to our family for two years---i'm 31 now.

has anyone else done this? and are you happy with the spacing?

Well in my family there are two kids 11 months apart and then 13 years and then two kids 2 1/2 years apart.

In dh's family there are two kids 14 months apart then 10 years and then two kids 2 1/2 years apart.

Although we only have 2 so far (19 months apart, almost 2 and 3 1/2 right now) we are also planning on haveing two more close together in several years (probably 6 or 8 more years).

Aren't all familys that way?

It's interesting that you asked this, because this is what dh and I are tinking very seriously of. We have an 18 month old dd, and a baby due in two months, and are comitted to putting more space between #2 and #3, at least until dd #1 is in school. My body is so tired from being pregnant or nursing for the past three years, and I just think that having three (or more) little ones would really do me in! So it's an interesting idea- I'll look forward to responses.

That's my plan!!!

I have a 4 year old and a 19 month old. I like the 2.5 year spacing. I would also like 4 children. My plan (dependent on many factors, since I am currently single!) is to wait until my youngest is 4 and then try for number 3 followed by number 4, 2.5 years later. I like having them close together and for some reason I think children should be in even numbers. (This is just a *me* thing, I don't think it applies to everyone.)

So, I say GO FOR IT!!!

We have 2 sets of 2 kids. Our older kids are 28 months apart, then there is a 6 year gap then #3, folled by #4 26 months later. I really like the gap on the middle, it helps that everyone isn't tiny at the same time.

We plan on doing something similar... though in our case it's 3 close together (3 within 2 years 9 months) and now youngest is 5 (on Thursday! ) and we are TTC. We would like 2 or 3 close in age again.... then I think we'll be done!
