My mini-lactivist...proud mama!!

I'm such a proud mama! :

My 3 yr old is awesome, I love her to pieces and I was never more proud of her than over Tgiving weekend when she nursed her baby dolls in front of all of our family.

She was playing with her baby dolls with my SIL (unmarried, no kids, needs lots of BFing education ). My SIL said to her "oh Cailyn, your baby is hungry!" and asked if she'd brought a bottle for her. Cailyn got this ultra annoyed look on her face, put her hand on her hip and said "Aunt Carrie, my baby doesn't drink from a yucky bottle!!" She then proceeded to take the baby doll from SIL, hike up her shirt, line baby dolls plastic little mouth up to her tiny little nipple and nurse her. I wish I could've videotaped it, omg it was priceless.

The looks on all of my IL's faces...omg, THE BEST. They all were watching and starting nudging each other "look what Cailyn's doing!" and giggling. I sat there (coincidentally for real nursing my real baby, lol) totally beaming with pride.

When her baby doll was "done" she picked her up, very sweetly said to her "are you all done, baby? was that good mama's milk?" and proceeded to sit her down and "burp" her. Again, the looks around the room were just completely priceless. They all commented on it and told Cailyn that she was a very good mommy to her baby.

I babysit and the little girl that I watch is the same age as Cailyn (they were both born on the same day). The two of them play baby dolls daily. K brings her own and one day she brought one of those plastic bottles with the fake milk in it. Cailyn saw it and REAMED K out for it. "My baby does NOT take a BOTTLE, K!!! My baby only eats MY milk in my BOOBIES!!!" K was completely confuzzled because she'd never seen a BF baby before. She knows what it is now and has even started nursing her own baby dolls. Yay!! Her mother thinks it's "cute".

Just had to brag about my little girl. :

That is GREAT. my kids don't even call breasts anything except "Baby feeders" or "Baby nurses."

DH sometimes gives me this look like he thinks I should COVER UP (*in my OWN HOME no less!!!) because my 8yo is watching. Hello! Of all things my 8yo needs to see, it's breastfeeding. He is starting to notice billboards and TV commercials with boobs on them. If I reinforce THAT image by HIDING, what kind of message is that to teach a young man??? Come on! I guess he will be scarred for life from seeing his beloved baby sister hanging off my saggy stretch marked "baby nurses" every day. as if.

I am so glad you got a postive reation from the ILs. I am divorced and in my second and final marriage. My older DD, Grace, is from my first and when we were battling in custody issues last year (I was already remarried and we were expecting Zoe) I had a picture on our family website that showed Grace nursing her baby. her DNA donor called his lawyer and they filed an emergency motion saying I had child pornography on our family site. Needless to say, the judge laughed at him and then asked me nicely to put a password protection on the site, to which I complied since I know not how the donor got the address in the first place.

I love it when grace sits down to nurse her babes....we throw out bottles that come with dollies because she knows we don't bottle feed. I make a lot of their dolls, but grandparents aren't exactly in the know about the issues regarding bottle feeding because a) they don't care and b) they were all bottle fed as BF was not the norm in their generation (which is funny on DH's side because his family used to own one of the largest dairies in the country before it was bought out by Land o' Lakes....LOL!)

Kudos to your girl! She will be a great mama some day!!
