Mucus plug? Help me!!

This is #7. Never had a mucus plug come out before, or any mucus that comes out in a blob like I just had. It wasn't huge. Maybe the size of a huge booger snot (what we call it here... ), but no tinge of blood from what I could tell. I rewiped myself after I saw it in the toilet, and there was some more, but not blob. So, should I be concerned?

Few things here:

1) I am 5 hrs away from OB & hospital.
2) U/S date is Jan. 4th, being induced Dec. 27th (for reasons of being so far away)
3) I know when I had my period in March, and the "calculated" due date is Dec. 15th, not Jan. 4th.
4) I do not have huge babies. So my U/S due dates are always 1-2 weeks off from the "calculated" due dates, and I've only had 1 that went past her calculated due date, the rest came before (well, take that back...#1 was due Aug. 2nd "calculated date", but the U/S said July 24th, and he came the 29th). My biggest baby weighed in at 7#11oz. My smallest was 5#12 (4 weeks preemie).

So, now I'm worried. I mean, should I be concerned about the booger snot-size mucus, or is it normal to some? I am having a lot of BH, but nothing to be alarmed at, I don't think.

I guess I will get my bags back, and stuff getting organized, and start the waiting game. I'm planning on going down to the area (of the hospital) on Dec. 19th, if the baby hasn't arrived yet.

YIKES!! I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of mamas lose their mucous plug... only to have it grow back! Or, just have nothing happen for a while. So don't get into a panic yet... at least I'm guessing from your post you feel like this is happening too early, right? Lie down, rest, relax, and have some water... if that is a possibility with six children! We'll be thinking about you...

ETA... you might want to call and speak with your care provider, too!!!!

With my last 2 pregnancies, I lost globs and globs of yellow mucous for a couple of weeks. The closer to my "due date", the more mucous I'd get - globs every time I wiped vs. a few times/day. But once it turned bloody, my water broke within 24 hours both times.

Perfectly normal to lose your plug hours, days, or weeks before labor actually starts. Don't worry!!!!!

I wouldn't worry about it at all... I think if you were closer to your date it might "mean" something, but I've lost mine and I think it comes back... and then lose it again... Plus, it is a lot of mucus--even though it might have seemed like a lot--unless there is blood I would be too concerned... s

This was my first time losing any mucus as well and it was definitely in the huge booger snot category, also blood-free.

That was two weeks ago and...I'm still pregnant!

I lost bits and golbs for a long time before going into labour. The plug is really fairly big. With my first baby I lost the entire plug the a.m. before having her. It was so huge.
I really wouldn't worry about it.

Good LUck

Usually you need not be too concerned if there was no blood in the mucous. They regenerate themselves, so unless you get some good contrax & go into labor yours will likely do the same.

As for being 5 hours from your OB & hospital....YIKES! I hope you've read up on UA birthing & have some essential supplies on hand. I think we're told to "prepare every needful thing" for instances such as this. I have a friend who keeps a spare birth kit with her 72 hour kits. I've not done it but it sounds like a good idea to me!

Anyhow, good luck & keep us updated!

Thanks for the replies/advice!!

I do have a hospital close to me just in case I don't make it to my induction date, BTW~~ Don't none of y'all fret!

Yesterday I had a lot of BH. Don't know if it was my mind playing with me but I went to bed last night, and woke up this morning feeling a lot better then I did yesterday.

I think I am at the beginning of nesting though...

I have washed every outside coat/sweatshirt/glove/hat/sharf...whatever outdoor stuff I had in the closet for all these kids and DH (few coats were mine), I washed!! Boy, talk about laundry!! I think I have washed 6 loads of stuff!! Being on a farm, you just have something for every type of weather!

Kids and I have really been cleaning too. Made the 2 older girls go in the attic and get all the Christmas stuff done. I figure if I am going to do it all, I might as well do it this weekend.

I'm about to leave to go Christmas shopping!! Wish me luck!! Shopping for 6 kiddos ain't easy!!
