Babywearing Newbie - Hotslings Help please...

I am a first time mommy to be and after the helpful suggestions of members here, I have decided to try a pouch for my first baby wearing experience.

I would like to buy a Hotslings padded pouch and had a couple of questions (I live in a tropical climate, so decided against a fleece pouch):

1) What is the best thing to do if I am between sizes - should I buy the larger size and then shrink in the dryer as needed?

2) Where can I find Hotslings on the internet (I am not in the US so need to do this via internet) where there is no charge for shipping??

3) Any final advice for someone using Hotslings with a newborn, and for someone who has never used any sling?

(I am not in the US and dont know anyone who has baby-wearing experience)

Thank you.

Hotslings is having a December sale so that might help out on the shipping. Although if you're international, I feel you might have to pay for shipping regardless.

I would prefer to get a smaller size because I like it to be snug. The Hotslings is fairly easy to use, especially with a newborn. There is an instructional sheet taht comes along with each pouch and you'll always find help here if you find you get yourself into a roadblock. That would be easier to help if there's a specific question. Other than that, just make sure you find a place that has a nice return policy in the event that the sling you purchased doesn't fit properly as sizing is extremely important.

Good luck!

Thanks Samantha (btw, sent you a PM) - is the sale on the Hotslings site itself? I will have everything sent to my mom in the US, so the shipping would be domestic.

So if I am between size 4 and 5 (want to get one that hubby and I can both wear), so it is best to go with a 4?

Thanks so much again.

I'd agree with going with the smaller size if you're between sizes. Especially with a newborn they like to be snug in there-- and if the hotsling sits too low on you it'd be really uncomfortable. It is really simple to use-- I tried a ring sling and couldn't figure it out to save my life, but I used the hotsling successfully 5 minutes after I got it in the mail. i bought mine from hotslings.com-- they have really good customer service . . . don't know about anywhere else.

Maxwill129 is trying to sell one (simple khaki size 5) on the trading post.

I was trying to get hubby convinced to buy it, but I think now we need to wait until after the holidays to get extras.

But you could probably get a good deal (with shipping) from this mama and even if YOU decide to get a size 4 later, it would be a nice manly one for your husband to use.
