~December Pagan Mama's Circle~ - Page 21

brendon, where do you live? Every year (in the Spring? the Fall? I can't rmember! Help me oh current Boston folk!) there is a really really cheap flight/hotel package offered out of Boston. I know Dh and I always talked about going and then never did... But the trip is something like 5 hours and the package deal was always cheap enough to tempt us (less than 400 dollars per person is what I'm remembering, but that may be wrong).

Have you seen the movie Beowulf & Grendel? I didn't really enjoy the film (I loved the original Beowulf saga and didn't like the way they edited the story) but it was shot on location in Iceland and it's amazing footage...

Hope your knee heals quickly!

Clay- We are in NY. I believe Boston is 9-10hours from home. I will keep that in mind. I would love to travel out of the US with the girls.

I haven't seen that movie. I keep a running list of movies that I want to see and we have a free subscription to blockbuster right now...

Happy belated birthday, Ander! Congrats to your wonderful mama.

I've been gone all weekend and come back to 4 pages of make up reading. It was a busy weekend and it's going to be a busy : week. My BIL and his family get here Wed night.

I had a baking day here today. Some of my friends came over with their kids and while the kids played we made yummy goodies to split. I now have a box full of cookies. Yum, cookies.

Guess what? I won the custom pottery raffle! I'm so excited. I don't know what I'm going to pick yet.

KH~THat is cool you won that raffle! I love pottery!

Well, when dh came home from work thursday, he told me we qualified for a food voucher since we have a big family (four kids). I opened the paper and it was for $93.00! I was so shocked. The stipulation was you could only use it today (18th) and had to be there at 8 am. That was tough to get out of the house at 7:15, but we did and I now have some great food that we will be having on Mother Night! I am making Prime Rib, roasted root veggies, creamed spinach, homemade fruitcake, and mulled wine (cider for the littles). It was nice to have that meal payed for!

Today I started baking....Burrebrede, and I am going to start the fruit mixture of the cake. Tomorrow we are making ginger snaps, graham cracker houses, and thumbprint cookies. Mmmm.

Another Yule link for you all!

We woke this morning to a world covered with frost. What's most amazing is that everywhere are frosted spider's webs like magical garland everywhere! It is cold here so it hasn't melt away. So pretty.

The coolest thing happened yesterday... on our one local idependant radio station they did a whole thing on Yule/Solstice. Told all these cool stories from around the world, played neat music. It went on for 2 hours! It was so great! gotta love local radio! :

Salvia: Did you get any pictures? I would love a new wallpaper on my computer!

Hey we are doing prime rib too! LOL

I never liked the cartoon Wilbur movie. I hated the voice of the pig. So whinny! Made me nuts. Well the kids and I are going to see the new one tomorrow, so I will let you all know. (I have a 12, 8, 5 and 2 year old)
I am so happy! Dh is on break from work and school for 2 weeks! : He is playing with the kids, making music, making love! AHHHH! Why can't it always be like this?

H- Yay that hubby is on vacation! Ooh, can't wait to hear how ya like Charlotte's Web.
My son's classroom is having a Myster Reader this month and next. During this month, the parents are allowed to choose a book that reflects/explain their holiday celebrations. I only just found out about that. I knew there was a mystery reader thingy going on but I obviously didn't get the newsletter (can't help but wonder if that was on purpose. Ds's teacher knows I'm pagan.). Anyhoo, I've been suffering from anxiety so I haven't signed up for reading a story but now I kinda wish I could handle doing it. I'm sure all the slots are taken for this month but it would have been nice (for a change) to read a pagan book to mainstream kids. bwah hah hah hah.

OH I am so jealous I was just telling a friend how I miss waking up to see the moisture in the air has frozen onto the naked branches of shrubs and trees... it makes the world such a beautiful place! I'll just have to live with waking up to kookaburra's laughin their bums off in the tree's outside my bedroom window (ta 4am no less : early rising buggers!)

I'm doing a bit of baking today too... making divinity (or going to attempt it), buckeyes (chocolate dipt peanut butter balls mmm), and considering some esspresso bark ... found it on a recipe site: coffee beans, chocolate & a touch of butter.. melt and mix beans in then spread on a waxed paper covered baking tray...shop white choccie & sprinkle the bits over it then put it in the fridge till it sets : I think I'm in heaven LOL.

And I must say that my hubby is my hero... he has installed the air conditioner in the living room so we don't roast on xmas morning! lol

Beautiful pictures Salvia!

I had a shift of attitude yesterday while shopping... I was looking for a last gift for DH, could not find what I wanted and had a hard time choosing between what was in front of me... I was getting very grumpy about it and in a "I hate the Holidays" mood when I stopped myself and this dawned on me: I'm so glad I have the luxury to be frustrated over choosing a gift for my DH! Wow! I started to smile, I felt very light and it became easier to choose something

Salvia- What kind of camera/lens did you use for those pics? I miss having a macro lens.
Cool pics!

So glad you all liked the pictures! I take almost as many pics of my garden as I do of my daughters.
All my pics are done on our Canon S410- no special lens- just a basic digital.

Oh, another picture but not my own. I was looking for a winter picture for my desktop and found this stunner. His blog has many lovely photos...

salvia thanks for the beautiful pictures!!!

I have to admit that this year my ability to hold the seasonal spirit has been sorely strained and for the first time in my life I was getting resentful and just wanted it all to be over.
Then Dd2 got ahold of my tree topper and hasn't put it down. I took a couple of cute pictures of her sleeping with it when she took her nap this afternoon! I'm going to have to get Dh to put the pictures on the computer so that I can show them to you guys.

I printed the recipies for the Russian tea and the Chaï tea and bought what I need to do them but I miss one ingredient - I've look in many many stores, even went to Walmart : with no results - I can't find Instant Tea!!!:

Do any of you knows where I can find it on the Internet? In Canada would be great (I tried to google it but only got recipies links )

What a day! OMG!
Took the kids to see Charlotte's Web. Very good Dakota Fanning is so darn cute as Fern. But I cried and cried at the end when Charlotte died. I am such a sap. My kids loved it (12, 8 and 5) but it is just a bit long for little kids (2 year olds!).
Then we had to rush to play practice and then to the bee supply store to get wax for candles, then home to make something for the GS pot luck, then off to a GS holiday party/end of year meeting. I am pooped! And we still have bed time and stories to do. LOL
Then my friends are coming over for a Solstice celebration tomorrow. Then the two oldest are off to sleep overs AGH! I feel so busy.

Valerie: That is a great observation. I have been having alot of those moments lately.
