Novice sewer...looking for tree skirt pattern

So my DH bought me a sewing machine for my b-day. It's not an expensive one. But I really am not very good with it yet. I made a few xmas stockings that turned out okay, not great.

Now I want to make a tree skirt. Anyone have a good pattern or know of where to find one?

I'm such a novice... I don't even know what serging means. I don't even think my machine is capable of doing that?? It's like $200 from Target.

Figure out the size of circle you want( include you hem allowance) and then cut that length into 1/2 and then 1/4. Then mark half the length on the end and using a ruler and chalk follow that dimension around so that you have a pie wedge. Then open it up. You can fashion a split opening in the back and use velcro as a closure. Good luck!

Your sewing machine won't serge, but It might do an overlock stitch, which is a basic serging stitch. Sergers cut and sew together.

Last year, I did a tree skirt using Simplicity 4332. I don't quilt, nor do I have a serger, but it came together quickly anyway and looks beautiful I think the most difficult part was wrangling with the huge pieces of fabric! Good luck
