PDX: what I WISH I could give to someone else - Page 2

Is it OK to post animals...? Just delete this or I will if this is a nono.

My daughter is moving back to CA after she finishes school and is not planning to take her hamster with her. She said I can give it away now. It has a small pink cage with a wheel, food dish and water dispenser. We probably also have extra food and bedding. BUT, she is a nibbler. My daughter did not handle her enough when she got her is my guess. Maybe with patience and lots of adult handling she will get over it, but I want to be honest about that up front. She is probably only about 6 months old assuming she was a baby when we got her from the pet store.

Okay, I may add more, but off the top of my head, I have:

-A baby bathtub, used once
-GONE - A beautiful Moses carrier type thing. It's light blue with white polka-dots. I think it's cotton. It's washable. I used it a lot in Hawaii when Talula was a baby and we'd go to the park or beach. I'd throw all my gear in the Moses carrier, and have Talula in the sling as I was walking down to the beach or park. Then I'd have a nice clean place to change her when I needed. Other babies might take naps in it, but not Talula. So...it might be a good thing to have for people who have babies due in the spring or summer and plan to go to the beach or park without a dp to carry everything.

OK, I have quite a bit of micro fleece that is all from Malden Mills (Polartec folks) in different weights. They are all dark colors and some are light and some are heavy weight. Please let me know if you want these. I am keeping some and getting rid of some. I also have some girlish pink fleece from JoAnns and some PUL in girlier colors, I think. I think I have finally gotten rid of most of my diaper making supplies, but this stuff is hanging around and needs a good home.

I have a Combi stroller (full sized) with the bar attachment to put an infant seat on the frame that needs a little cleaning, but it is otherwise in really good condition as it was not used much. It is too big for me to lug around and both my boys walk.

I cleaned out my storage stuff yesterday and also found some other things I am getting rid of...to let folks know what I've got and you can let me know if you need/want it.

We have a glass cabinet from IKEA, like this one: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/store...umber=20011267 except it's royal blue around the edges and has silver legs (if i can find the legs!) I can't bring it to you thought because we aren't able to use the truck right now.

Also, have a weight bench (bench press). It has been sort-of altered, but still has the main weight bench seat with a leg lift part.

Maybe a Christmas present for that special guy in your life...

Tevas, size 10. Never worn. They were my grandpa's but he put them on once and hated them. Grey/black coloring. They are the basic kind, nothing fancy.

I would love to give someone who can't afford one a custom pouch doll sling!

i also have a strange red brocade asian baby carrier that i think ties over the boobs, because all four straps are the same length. i was going to add onto them to make them longer at the top and more MeiTai like, but i never did. Nigel only rarely likes to be carried anymore.

I also have a rarely used baby bathtub.

Okay. These are some really random things that I can't figure out what to do with:

I have a few boxes of magazines. Some are lame, but some might be great for home/un schoolers too, if only for the great pictures for collage projects (2+ years of Smithsonian, UTNE, Mother Jones, and Real Simple along with random others)

I also have a supply of hand-made glass tchotchkes. I used to keep everything my glass-blower dad sent me, but it's now turned into FIVE LARGE BOXES of glass, so I'm keeping some stuff, but would love to find appreciative homes for the rest of them. If you are into home-made, hand-blown glass baubles, fish, cups, plates, um, heads, etc...

Christmas lights- lots of them older, large bulb colored ones, small colored ones. Small strands work, but some individual lights don't- probably easy 2 fix. large bulbs...don't know about.

I think I have the same strange red brocade asian baby carrier! I lengthened the bottom straps on mine. The body is kinda short too, so I actually used it a lot when Jo was a newborn. I was going to donate it to NINO, but if somebody wants it...

I also have a sharp sturdy set of knives in a block w/ a sharpener. It had kitchen shears too but they are lost, so there's an empty hole in the block.

tons of mama (size 12-14-16) and kid clothes (size 6-12 mos. boy, size 3-4 girl, size 5-6 boy, and big teenage boy t-shirts)

bags of random toys, art supplies, household items...

I've added to my list and wanted to bump this.

maybe we should keep this going all year!

I have a few months' worth of New Scientist magazines. I freecycled some of these last year to a homeschooling mom...I think they'd be good for that. If no one here wants them, I'll eventually freecycle them.

I need to do an inventory of my garage--I'll probably post some more stuff.

I think it would be a great thing to have an ongoing thread. Like a "Gots and Wants" (only I guess the Gots have to be separate from the Wants??).

I wonder if we posted haves and wants but still did everything else by PM if we could keep it open in one. So no "hey so and so I will take your such and such". I don't know though. Someone would have to PM

I have:

A queen mattress set. The mattress is gently used, and the boxspring is hardly used. We can't get the boxspring up our stairs so it's been just sitting in storage. (Switching to two twin boxsprings/king mattress)

2 19" CRT computer monitors.

3 pair small maternity pants ( my mom doesn't want me to give these away )

If they are comfortable to you and you like them when pregnant (not now because I think we are all sick of our maternity after we are done) don't get rid of them. If you are planning more kids that is. I got rid off all my maternity after Michael was born and then when we had Marah the style I liked was no longer being made. I was so upset and had to wear stuff I did not really like.

well, I'm not planning... but I know things happen! If someone really needs them, I'll give them away or lend them for the months they're needed; otherwise I'll hang on to them just in case.

What a great name your oldest daughter has, btw!

In our continuum concept group (about 25 members) we have "naked-lady" parties at almost every gathering (once a month or more). Everyone brings whatever clothing (kids or adults) or items that they no longer want/need, and everyone else goes through it. Although we have an email list, we don't post about each thing we are offering/wanting, we just say "naked lady party!" and everyone knows to bring stuff. It's way cool, and could work well with this group too. I'm planning on bringing a bunch of stuff to the cake party, but really don't have the time to list each item here and then check PMs and see who wants it and hand it directly to them at the party...
