Announcing:
Emmett Curtis Carver Allen
Born November 30th, 2006 1:10pm at 41 weeks gestation
Totally natural hospital birth after almost exactly 12 hours of "real" labor (but many, many hours of early or prodromal labor before that)
8lbs 12oz
21.5" long
It was an amazing experience, but very very intense. i dont think i could have done it without my awesome doula and, of course, my wonderful DH. i will have to process more (and look at my chart--i really cannot piece together what happened when, i was so in labor land. it took everything i had to cope with it) before i can write up the birth story.
He is so perfect. i can't believe i had this big of a baby (i'm a pretty small person and dd was not nearly this large). I can't believe he's here, either, after losing my mucous plug at 38 weeks it was torture to wait until 41 weeks. he was definitely well-done---long fingernails, long hair, very peely grey skin from his long bath in amniotic fluid! we're really enjoying our babymoon. i had the "baby blues" after dd, but this time i don't feel that way at all. i just feel really good. his big sister is really loving him and wanting to hold him all the time. its kind of hard, but i'll take that over jealousy and resentment!
But here are some pictures. Congrats to the other november mamas. and i hope the rest of you still waiting have VERY early december babies very, very soon!
