After 38 hours of labor, our little sweetie is here!
Eva Dawn was born November 29 at 4:11 PM.
Weight: 6 lbs 2 oz
Length: 19 inches
After 5 rounds of cervical softner and only dilating to a 3 in 37 1/2 hours, I was threatened with a C Section. So, I had a good cry and talked with several docs about the c-section process. I finally came to grips with it being okay to do, rolled over and took a small nap. While napping, I dreamed that I had a lot of pressure down there...the nurse noticed a different heart rate on the baby, so came in to check me. She couldn't believe that I had dialated from a 3 to a 10 AND gone from a -3 to crowning in less than 30 minutes! After she checked me, I felt the urge to push, but my doc wasn't there yet. We did a 1/2 push to see how things were going, and I was told to STOP! The doc got there a few minutes later, I pushed through about 5 contractions and her heart rate dropped to 50 bpm. One more push and a quick episiotomy and she came FLYING out. The doc actually had to CATCH her in the air. Yikes. She wasn't breathing and was very limp...so no tummy time to clean her. She went straight to the warmer where they got her "going". Everything is perfect with her!
We had a high risk of Downs, and she checks out great. She's a great nurser, especially for a 37 weeker. And she only lost 3 oz while we were in the hospital.
BTW we induced at 37 weeks because of my PIH and her failing to thrive in the womb.

: And congratulations Brenda and family. I'm so glad your little one arrived safely, and you avoided the C-section.
