i just found this site and it is making me breathe so much easier tonight. If you have anxiety and panic i reccomend it. i was having numb, tingling lips, and started reading a message board from this site, and found out that it is common with anxiety. then i read some of the other pages that talk about how even though the attack seems spontanteous or out of the blue you can actually learn to track or look back at days or weeks before it and see the spiralling thought pattern that led up to it. i have learned a little about cognitive therapy before, but no one has yet explained it in a big picture way to me, i was just given tools for dealing with the moment, and some prevention. anyway i hope this link is helpful to someone else.

Thanks! I was intruiged by the alcohol consumption-anxiety/panic link, esp. since my husband has been drinking alcohol regularly lately to help with his anxiety (a glass or two of wine a night but then often is up late worrying).

yeah i tried that last summer at the peak of my anxiety/depression re: my divorce. it helped me stop pacing and go to sleep, but then there was some turning point where it stopped working. also , i didnt even do it every night. i think there was a week in there where i did, but then after that it was just weekends when i didnt have ds. and suddenly, i started having a panic response after drinking. sometimes it wouldnt hit me till the next day. i really noticed it after i started feeling better. i havent really drank at all in a month or so. i really notice it now cuz i have had so many more good days i can tell when something random has thrown me off.

Oh, and I just want to say that I just noticed that you were single - I remember you having some issues with your DH but I guess I missed the divorce happening. I'm sorry to had to go through that!

I'll share this with DH tonight. I'd talk to him about it now but his dad is sitting right next to us. (which might have some impact on his anxiety - a couple and the husband's dad living in a tiny 1 BR apartment where the DH works at home has never relaxed anyone!)
