So my dh has just started a new job (about 5 weeks ago) Saterday was the ofice Christamas party and the first time I met many of the people in his office. He hasn't actually met all of them yet either. So we are at a table with 3 other couples. One childless, one with 2 small boys and one with a toddler girl and in the first trimester of #2 (gender unknown) We are all having a good time and the conversation is quite funny and silly. One of the guys had been shopping in a book store earlier that day and had come accross a coffee table book on canabalism (
) He kept being a wiseguy and pointing out random people and saying "watch out for him, he's a canabal." We started talking about weird things that people do or have done in history (starting with ritual canabalism and going from there) and how it's normal to the people living in the culture but so not normal to us living in a diferant culture. I said "It wasn't too long ago it was normal to cut the tip of a baby boys peinis as soon as he was born, isn't that just weird" (I'm in Canada so our circ rate has dropped off a lot in the last 30 years but I'm quite sure that every guy there was cut) Sudden uncomfortable silence and then the mom of the 2 boys said "Ya, isn't that just weird to think about? It's like if someone told you where I come from we cut the ears off new borns or something like that!" I'm glad her sons are probably intact and I hope we made an impression on the couples that don't have boys yet.

: Sounds like maybe those 2 little obys are intact. And hopefully it will give the mom to be something to think about.
But it fit so well with the conversation we were having that I just had to do it.
